Meet the Author

Jon Hartling had been writing aimlessly for many years before the stars aligned and he discovered his muse in the classic stories of H.P. Lovecraft. With the invaluable help of his wife Heather in an editorial and technical capacity, he began writing short stories of weird fiction. He lives in Wisconsin with his wife and children and dreams of one day owning a plush Cthulhu doll that’s wearing a Green Bay Packers jersey and helmet. His demented cat Nikki may or may not be head-butting him at this very moment.

It was okay. This is a SHORT story! It is 30pgs. Spoiler: star

    It was okay.

This is a SHORT story! It is 30pgs.

Spoiler: started out pretty good. Mid-way thru it was it lost little steam. What I found lacking was Bert. He did a good job at the begining but tapered off. I would have liked him to develope Bert's experience w/the divine a little more. He only gets 2 tries at redemption? I did like how Bert tried to rationalize his experience with the memories about his mother. I liked tha whole "patron saint of kidnapping". The ending for Alyssa was good but lacking. I would have liked her to reach out to others & introduced them to this "patron saint:. The tie-in with the old chruch was good. I think I would have liked for the local police & neighbor to be a little less suprised about what happened, since weird things go on there from time to time. Good start for Mr. Hartling & Go A.J. Hawke!!

    Great story

I previously read "Firebug" and loved the story. This tale is also well written and delivers retribution on the wings of consequence!

P.s. Gotta love the mythos reference! It's a cabal we should all attain to belong to.

As I read this story, I kept thinking that it would have made a great episode on the old Twilight Zone TV show. If you loved that show, you will love this story. A bad man gets exactly what he deserves. People, please stop complaining about the story being only 30 pages long. IT'S A SHORT STORY! It's supposed to be short! Duh-aaaaa!
Hats off again to this author. Keep these great little free gems coming. E
