About the Author

Presently, Concha Delgado Gaitan doing independent writing and researching. She is an award-winning professor and researcher in Anthropology and Education. The Presidential Fellowship of the American Council of Anthropology of Education is named in Concha Delgado Gaitan's honor. Annually, ten scholars receive awards for their research. Another major honor, she received the George and Louise Spindler Award for the her contributions to the field of anthopology and education.She is a former professor of Anthropology & Education as well as Sociocultural Studies in Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara and U.C. Davis. She currently works as a writer and consultant with universities and communities.Influenced by her earlier work as a teacher, school principal, and applied anthropologist in urban and rural communities, she is concerned with issues connecting family, school and community. Concha has worked as a researcher and collaborator in underrepresented communities with Latinos in the Southwest, Russian Refugees, Hmongs in central California, Alaskan Natives, and transnational populations in Mexico, and Spain, where she has also lectured.
