Overview

Wings of Tavea is Book 2 in the Solus Series, a young adult fantasy series.

Kiora is rapidly learning that evil and lies come in shades of black and white and swirling greys, but nothing could have prepared her for the shock of leaving Meros. Kiora and her protector Emane step through the pass into a world they never knew existed but were always meant to save, only to find it far worse than they could have ever imagined. Good has been forced into hiding for its own survival, while the rest of the land bows to the Shadow, a force that pushes any remaining thoughts of Dralazar from Kiora s mind. This land is full of new creatures, each more dangerous than the last. Her visions have taken on a deadly twist, and magic, or what comes of it, was never so real. And then there is Alcander: a Tavean, their guide, and an entirely different kind of trouble.

Wings of Tavea is book two in the Solus Series. After reading Wings of Arian, I was really excited to jump into this one. It starts back up where book one ends with Kiora, Drustan and Emane traveling through the open gates into an unknown world. They have no idea of what lurks on the other side of the gates; however, they are informed that nothing good has stayed. When they meet Alcander, the Tavean prince is not so thrilled but inclines to take them to Lomay, an ancestor to one of the creators. Eleana sends Arturo to assist Kiora with her inner demons as she battles strange enemies along their journey. My favorite character is Alcander. He is stubborn, powerful and insightful. As soon as Kiora meets him, there is an immediate stirring that calls to her. She fights through bouts of confusion with feelings for Emane as well as those for Alcander. With her magic growing stronger by the day, she knows that she can’t let her emotions get the best of her when everyone’s lives are on the line. She is the Solus and Emane is her Protector. They both have a job to do in order to restore the good in the land…even when everything left may only be the evil that threatens to destroy them. One of my favorite parts of this story is being able to relate to Kiora’s emotional turmoil regarding death. The author portrays a wonderful explanation of how her feelings are totally acceptable; yet, the message that is being conveyed by Arturo is an ultimate truth which I feel is tremendously insightful and becomes a powerful motivation for her throughout the story. Lomay is another character which I find to be curious about. I am not sure whether I like him or not because he is very vague with his personality and inquisitiveness. Kiora and Emane are torn with whom they can trust; especially, when Drustan’s disdain for the camps that they visit become so apparent with their treatment of shifters. Overall, I really love this series thus far. I can’t wait to pick up the third in the series and start reading. I enjoy the author’s writing style and her creativity with creating an entirely new world is completely astounding. All characters are very much developed, some are even complex and I do really like most all of them…even Dralazar and Layla. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys Fantasy and young adult fiction and I rate this book with five stars. For starters, it is a continuation of an adventure and I really get into these types of books. This one always pulled me in and held my attention. It was very unpredictable and the anticipation always kept me guessing or wanting to read more into the characters themselves.

I'm getting a "Team Alcander" t-shirt made. Did I enjoy this book: Yes! I’m again annoyed with myself for waiting a day to write the review (Wings of Nestor is calling to me from across the room). Hurry up, self! Tell the world how much you liked Solus #2 so you can get going on Solus #3! Go! Write! Tell them about the awesome new world with the awesome new bad guys! Tell them about Lomay, and the second set of wings, and the pretty half-ostrich people, and … Ooooooohhhhh. Tell them about Alcander. Delicious, gorgeous, magical Alcander. Yum. What about Emane, you ask? Oh, he’s just as delicious as ever, but now there’s a distinct Edward-versus-Jacob vibe. I love it. Anyway. Wings of Tavea is great and I’m confident Wings of Nestor will be too. (By the way, I’m getting a t-shirt made that says “Team Alcander.”) Would I recommend it: Yes. Read it. Well, read Solus #1 first. Then read Wings of Tavea. Then get your t-shirt made. Will I read it again: If I have time, YES. Goooo Team Alcander! Another amazing job did by Devri Walls! I have to admit I enjoyed this second book in the series more than the first. Kiora it’s more mature in this book, more powerful and strong. She accepted her destiny and she started doing more things and not whine so much. Brilliant job with her! Some new characters were introduced into the book along with a love triangle. I thought this would make me dislike the book, but that didn't happen, even if I liked Emane. Dralazar has returned and he tries to get some compliance from an individual. He quite a villain and he never forgets why he is doing all that things.  The loved triangle it’s formed by Emane, Kiora and Alcander, a new character. The two guys argue over her constantly. Alcander is a lost soul, but underneath that grumpy skin I think there is a funny, loving character and I think he and Kiora will make a beautiful couple. The author really does a great job at making her world absolutely captivating. This book was a lot more action-packed and intense, than the first book. Devri Walls is a great writer and her writing has a way of forcing you to read her book. I recommend this book!

I have read the sample of Tavea and Arian books. Highly reccomend this book, though please read the first book first. Easier to understand that way. Though I hope Kiora and Emane's love life gets more " steamy " and possibly a love rival for Emane.

How is it possible?! I seriously loved Wings of Arian the first book in the Solus series, but book two Wings of Tavea... I dare say I enjoyed even more so than Wings of Arian! I am always very wary of picking up sequels to books I loved, but thank goodness Wings of Tavea surpassed my expectations and completely took me by surprise! If you have not yet read Wings of Arian....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! This is a series that is not to be missed by any fantasy/adventure lover! Devri has yet again proved herself to be an amazing writer in Wings of Tavea. and while I am a bit sad the third and final book is coming out I am at the same time excited because I can't wait to see what Devri comes out with outside of the Solus Trilogy. I will be for sure picking it up no matter what it is she comes out with next! Going to briefly go over what I didn't like in Wings of Tavea and that was sadly Emane and Kiora, I enjoyed them so much more in Wings of Arian. In Wings of Tavea though I felt they were a bit more whiny than usual. I understand they have the world on their shoulders and everything, so I am sure that causes them to stress or have nervous break downs like Kiora did about 10 times in Wings of Tavea, but it still did get on my nerves. I still love them, oh yes I do, but they did frustrate me. Moving on to what I LOVED and that was easily hands down Drustan and Alcander. First off Drustan is just my favorite character now, I love his personality, and I love that he is a shifter. I mean...come on I can not get over still how awesome that would be to be able to transform into a freakin DRAGON whenever you wanted, or whatever you feel like transforming into. Drustan is the friend that keeps everything together I feel, and without him Emane and Kiora would surely have died along time ago! Now onto our newly added beautiful character Alcander! I feel bad saying this...really I do especially since in my Wings of Arian review I talked about how much I loved Emane and Kiora...well now I am SO in love with the idea of Alcander and Kiora...when it comes down to it I find Alcander was much more interesting than Emane AND I do believe he is the better match for Kiora! I guess we shall see how this all plays out though. (fingers crossed for Alcander!!!!) Overall this was an amazing sequel to what is so far an amazing series. What I really love about the Solus trilogy is while the romance does play a big part in the story, I always feel at the end of the book the main focus was on good conquering evil, and THAT is what is important. Wings of Tavea is an adventure fantasy that I believe will leave it's readers on the edge of their seat and then dying for book three once they finally reach the end!
