"The Real Purpose of investment management is not to "beat the market" but do do what is right for a particular client" or yourself!
I have 16 "sticky notes" in this book, indicating to me, very relevant and important pages. Because over 90% of all NYSE public trades are now handled by professionals, you, the individual investor, cannot beat them. But, with self-discipline, patience, and fortitude, you can still be a "winner" at investing. How many people have to tell us, before we will finally believe it, that "market timing is a wicked idea," and we should never try it? For individual investors he has a listed (pp 141-142) "10 commandments" to guide you/one in decisions on investing. Excellent. I have read, in the last 5 years, over 60+ books, and hundreds of articles on investing. This is one of the best books. The author also lists a few of his favorites at the end, most of which I agree with, but also wish he had listed some others. But, if one lists too many items, the reader will not look at any of them, has been my experience. I highly recommend this book for both the investment advisor, and especially for the individual investor.
