Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Students will learn of Churchill's difficulties with school where he endured harsh physical punishment, his worries over his severe lack of money even though he came from an upper-class family, his first speech that revealed his lisp to the world, his love affair with his wife Clementine, and his success as a political leader on and off the battlefields. Driemen does a fine job of explaining the workings of the British government and how it differs from that of the United States. This is especially helpful for elementary students who have not yet studied British history and government. The book includes many black-and-white photographs and a clear, detailed timeline. --Anne Marie Lilly, Reeths-Puffer Junior High School, Muskegon, MI
