Overview

A beautiful, fire witchling with a dangerous secret …

A race to save the Light from permanent Darkness …

A threat that awakens an ancient evil...

If Beck, the Master of Light, has learned anything, it’s never to trust a pretty girl – or more specifically, his own judgment relating to those of the opposite sex. Girls have been a source of trouble for him, but he’s working to right those wrongs.

He saved his brother and girlfriend from Darkness, but faults himself for not protecting them in the first place. His earth magick warns him that an ancient danger is eliminating the Light. What’s worse, it comes at the hands of a girl he can’t resist.

Drawn to her beauty and gentle heart, Beck is astonished to learn her magick will do more than set his blood on fire. But Morgan is hiding something, a source of ancient evil, known as a soul stone, passed down through a thousand years of fire witchlings.

No stranger to bullies, Morgan tries to protect those around her from similar pain. But she and her brother arrive at the boarding school in the Rocky Mountains only for Morgan to make instant enemies with Dawn, who learns how to awaken the power of the soul stone to exact revenge upon the Masters of Light and Dark.

Soon everyone Beck cares about from his brother, Decker, to his friends Summer and Biji, will be in danger while the Light continues to recede at a rapid-fire pace and at the heart of it is Morgan, who Beck learns is his counterbalance. She may be the only one who can help protect the Light – that is, if she doesn’t fall to the Dark like every fire witchling before her.

I was given this book free by the author in exchange for an honest review. Morgan is a fire witchling. She has only been at the school for 3 weeks, and already things are not going well. She very quickly comes onto the bad side of Dawn, and doesn't really have anyone on her side other than her brother Connor. Of course she really doesn't have any plans of staying at the school past her 18th birthday either, so she doesn't care. In desperation, Amber asks Beck to take her under his wing. The problem? Morgan has dark secrets that she is afraid to let out. What follows is a fast paced read with sparks flying in more ways than one (pun intended).

As with all the Witchling Series books, these are teenagers trying to come to grips with themselves as well as their magics. They must also ultimately decide if they are going to become light or dark witchlings. I liked Morgan. In a lot of ways I related to her without the dark secrets. She is the perfect opposite for Beck, and if she can overcome her insecurities, the perfect match for him. The only thing I didn't like was the cliff hanger at the end. These books are perfect for 15+

Winter Fire is amazing and intense. There is so much going on with Beck in this story. There is a new character, Morgan, and I really like her. The poor girl has had a troubled life and just as things start to look up....Dawn happens! Dawn is totally insane, more insane then in the last two books. Bijii is a hot ticket and will do anything to help protect her friends. Decker and Summer have yet another crisis. The cliff hanger left me totally unhinged! I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Lizzy Ford is awesome! I highly recommend this series.

Winter Fire by Lizzy Ford is the best Witchling yet.  I love these characters so much.  The entire story is filled with drama, suspense, and mixed emotions.  An expected cliff hanger just left me wanting more.
