Overview

Kerry has seen the error of her trusting ways. Turning to someone for help turned out to be a complete mistake. So now she is back on her own -- mulling over the same issues, stuck with the same baggage: Find the witch named Season. Avenge Daniel's death. Decipher the ancient witch stories.

The difference is that this time Kerry is armed. For starters, she's picked up more than a few tricks of the witchy trade herself. To boot, she's got the knowledge that everything is definitely not as it once seemed. So even if her quest gets blown off track, Kerry is prepped.

The trick to navigating her topsy-turvy path is figuring out who she can trust. As Glinda once astutely asked, "Are you a good witch, or a bad witch?" This winter, that's the million-dollar question.

Editorial Reviews

KLIATT
In this third installment of the action-packed Witch Season quartet, following Summer and Fall, Kerry finds herself braving the winter chill as she escapes from Mother Blessing's swamp and begins her search for Season Howe. (Readers of the previous two novels will already know that Mother Blessing is the powerful witch mother of Kerry's deceased boyfriend, Daniel; they will also know that Season is the Blessing Family's deadly rival and also the one who murdered Daniel; Kerry had come to Mother Blessing's after Daniel's death to learn witchcraft to help her defeat Season.) Kerry is more confused as she strikes out on her own. She has gained a small, but powerful, amount of skill with witchcraft. She knows that Mother Blessing is no longer an ally but a threat. She also knows that Season has a lot of information to offer if Kerry is willing to listen. Meanwhile, Kerry's three remaining summer roommates, Brandy, Scott, and Rebecca, all try to go about their lives but find themselves inextricably mixed up again in the witchy mess. Convinced that Kerry's been kidnapped by Season, they begin to track the two women with the unsolicited help of a simulacrum, one of Mother Blessing's dangerous and magical henchmen. When all are brought together, there is an explosive confrontation and no one is left unchanged. Fans of magical fantasies will enjoy this series, especially "girl power" fantasy fans such as watchers of television shows like Charmed or Buffy. These novels would be of interest to junior high readers but some of the series content and language would make them best for high school readers. The first two books in the series are great and i loved this one as well. But at the middle of the book, Readers are going to beunexpecting surprised at the plot and the characters. Kerry has now gained some power and witchcraft and found out that Mother Blessing has been hiding secrets behind her back. Soon, Kerry no longer trusts her and moves out of the cabin to begin searching for Season. There's one thing though, Mother Blessing is trying to stop Kerry for ever trying to find her, probably knowing that Kerry would find out the real truth about Mother Blessing and what had really happened in the town where she had lived with her two sons. At the end of the book, its great that Kerry's friends think about something they think they know is true but isn't really the real truth about what's really been going on. When you read the book, you'll see what I mean...
