Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - L. A. Gallaway
In this "Stepping Stones" chapter book, Ginny and Mokey are up to new adventures in this sequel to Summer Pony. At this point Ginny finally has her very own pony, Mokey. (Summer Pony was a story about how she acquired her pony.) Jean Slaughter Doty has a deep understanding of the equine world, which is portrayed in her writing. The reader sees through the eyes of Ginny, a novice to the equestrian world. Through her, the reader experiences wonder, excitement and awe. While the overall story is quiet, Doty creates excitement through her tight writing. There are also two captivating scenes: one where Ginny and Pam are running head-long toward a snow truck and another in which Mokey has a foal. You get the fragile, yet resilient beauty of new life. I Adore This Book!

Winter Pony is a wonderful sequel to Summer Pony! And Mokey has a big surprise in store; A foal! ( A baby horse.) But there is more to the story then just Mokey expecting a foal. There are even more adventures! Read This Book! Jean Slaughter Doty, has done it again!
