Overview

WINTER SOLSTICE WINTER is a New Adult fantasy romance mixed with Viking mythology novel. Think Lord of the Rings 'light' meets Princess and the Pauper, with a soul mate love story - an epic saga with two strong female heroines.

It’s not easy being a seventeen-year-old adopted peasant girl in the Viking-inhabited Northlandic Kingdom, especially when you have terrifying mare dreams of an evil Empress named Eiess and when your friends oust you because they consider you cursed. Little does Ailia know, that she hasn’t even seen the tip of the iceberg yet...
On Winter Solstice, Ailia seeks out a quiet place to ponder: a large cliff overlooking her hometown. On her way home, Eiess and an army of Vikings capture her before attacking the Northlandic castle. After having usurped the throne, Eiess suspends the seasons on not only the coldest, but also the darkest day of the year.
Princess Lucia, sole heir to the Northlandic Throne, is taken prisoner by Eiess. For months, Lucia wastes away in the castle’s tower, never knowing when this nightmare of beatings, starvation and bitter cold will end. But when she miraculously escapes, she learns that she has a sister she must find so they can together defeat Eiess.
Ailia wakes up in a glacier cave months later with no memory of how she ended up there. On her way home, a handsome, yet mysterious young man named Soren, rescues her, and tells her he will help her find the answers to her questions about her mare dreams. Ailia is immediately drawn to Soren, thinking she knows him from somewhere, maybe from a dream of a previous life? She falls for him, but no sooner than he reveals he has been sent by the gods to defeat Eiess, and is waiting to reunite with his soul mate, Lucia, so they together can form an alliance.
As Eiess continues to amass her forces, Ailia, Lucia and Soren discover that their destinies are intertwined behind a veil of dark secrets and lies. Finally together, they begin to form an alliance. But will they succeed in unravelling the maze of lies and learn the truth so they can defeat Eiess before darkness overcomes the Kingdom forever?

The book ¿Winter Solstice Winter: A Viking Blood Saga¿ surpris

The book “Winter Solstice Winter: A Viking Blood Saga” surprised me, and that is not easy to do. The book starts out predictable enough, as many do, but offered some twists and turns that kept me wondering what the outcome would be.
The characters are fairly well developed, although some like the character of Lucia, could use a little more insight. The descriptions of the locations are phenomenal and the parallel storylines are an interesting mix of history, romance and the traditional storyline of good versus evil.
What I found most interesting is the subtext. There are numerous references, some obvious and some subtle, to subtext ideas and storylines that those readers who love books for depth would enjoy.
Overall, this book is a good read, very enjoyable, and well worth the effort.
