Winter [#1]

Editorial Reviews

This EP, along with her other CD singles, played a significant role in that boomlet of interest. They indicated a bottomless supply of terrific material, and allowed her fans to become Tori Amos collectors before she'd even released two albums. The B-sides on the "Winter" single aren't quite as remarkable as her much-discussed cover tunes, but they are...

The B-sides on the "Winter" single aren't quite as remarkable as her much-discussed cover tunes, but they are gems nonetheless: the piano bassline on "Take to the Sky" provides as big an adrenaline rush as anything on her full-length albums. "The Pool" creates an evocative, cinematic synth landscape. "Sweet Dreams" features one of Amos' only attempts at social criticism.

    Great CD

Unlike the other review, I felt ''Pool'' was the weakest track, yet the other 4 are powerful and moving. I particularly love ''Winter'' and ''Take to the sky''. This was my first Tori Amos CD, and an excellent introduction to her.

    Overlooked gem

All the songs on this CD are excellent, particulalry Pool, which is a haunting instrumental with abstract vocals, and Take to the Sky, which is one of my all-time favourite Tori songs.
