If, like me, you're looking for a great way to take your jewelry to the "next level", this book provides a whopping 30 projects from some of the most well known jewelry designers in the business. The best part...you don't need to adept at "fire" (torching) or have a garage full of expensive tools to complete these great projects, which is a huge plus for those of us who might not be ready (yet) to anneal, solder and melt metals at home. What I really enjoyed about this book was the very easy instructions, and the wonderfully rich pictures provided to demonstrate the techniques. The jewelry styles are completely "on point" for what I'm hoping to make for myself and friends. I've already made two projects from the book, and have "sticky noted" several others that I'm hoping to try this summer. I can't wait!! If there is a tiny criticism I have of this book, it is the lack of pictures demonstrating all of the steps to make a jewelry project. That's not a big deal for me since I've been making jewelry for quite some time and have done these techniques before, but for a complete "newbie" to wire and jewelry making, many of the steps described (but not pictured) will add frustration rather than pleasure to the buyer's day. I would not recommend this book for those without any knowledge of jewelry making or wire wrapping, but those who have worked successfully with wire and pliers, this is the absolute "next step" on your journey to more complex jewelry designs and fabrication techniques. The best part was that my friends all agreed that these designs were similar to those you'd see at an art festival--rather than the jewelry made by a crafter or hobbyist. I would recommend this book to intermediate level jewelers looking to jump from wire to wire+metal!
