Overview

Richter and Schwan's popular how-to manual is completely revised in its new 39th edition. This long-time favorite is packed with information presented in clear language. Added headings and reorganized material make it easy to find specific topics quickly. New photos, diagrams, and drawings are among the 225 black and white illustrations. Readers say that Wiring Simplified is for the everyday person who needs help with electrical problems, and that it gives the confidence to do a good job because the directions are accurate, up-to-date, and complete. They like the book's small size because they can put it in the toolbox, carry it to the job easily, and hold it in one hand while working. The illustrations make it easy to understand the wiring principles, and the book gives useful tips about what to ask for when buying wiring supplies.
About the Authors:
The late H.P. Richter wrote the first edition of Wiring Simplified in 1932. It was one of the first how-to books on wiring for the general reader. It was followed by Practical Electrical Wiring in 1939. With the publication of each succeeding edition of these books, the author came to be regarded more and more widely as both the do-it-yourselfer's electrician and the electrician's electrician. He had the rare ability to write for both the amateur and the professional, and his books continue today in updated versions.
W. Creighton Schwan, a registered professional engineer and electrical consultant, is a recognized authority on wiring standards and practices. He has been the coauthor of Wiring Simplified and Practical Electrical Wiring and regularly contributes a column, "Code Comments," to the magazine Electrical Contractor. His background includes positions as supervising electrical inspector in Alameda County, California, electrical safety engineer for the California Division of Industrial Safety, and senior field engineer for nine Western states for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association. He holds memberships in several professional organizations and has been an instructor at seminars on the National Electrical Code®.
