~ ~ ~

"Nothing about her says cute. Everything about her says sex. And mine."

I never thought I’d see her again. Didn’t think I wanted to. But the moment Cally Fisher returns to New Hope, I know I could forgive her the most unthinkable secret, if only she would tell me.

This time, I’m fighting for her.

"After seven years. After breaking his heart and dismissing my own, I’m still very much his."

I never intended to return home, but to help my sisters, I’ll confront my past…and William Bailey, the man whose eyes remind me of the girl I was, the things I’ve done, and the future I’ve lost. This would all be easier if William hated me. But he wants to be in my life, my secrets be damned.

If he learns the truth, it will destroy him.

I absolutely love this book!  After reading Unbreak Me I really didn't think I could love Will. But I learned so much about him in Wish I May that there is no way to not love him.  I went into this expecting Will to be the wishy washy man who just doesn't want to be alone I knew him to be from Unbreak Me, but I was wrong, way wrong.  Will is generous and thoughtful almost to a fault.  He has a heart so big he cannot stand to watch someone suffer when he can help.  He also had his heart irrevocably broken seven years ago.

Enter Cally.  She broke my heart over and over again.  Each time I thought I had come to terms with the horrors of her life new information came up that ripped me apart again.  Cally's story had me in tears more than once.  Her dedication to her family, especially her sisters, is amazing but the only choices life has given her are horrible.  On the surface she is a far from respectable, but just looking right under the fine layer of dust that covers her you can clearly see she has a heart of pure gold.

The first moment Cally and Will come together in Wish I May it is obvious they have a significant history together.  I enjoyed watching as Cally and Will try to navigate life while protecting what is left of their shattered hearts.

    more from this reviewer

I had the fantastic pleasure of receiving and ARC of Wish I May.

I had the fantastic pleasure of receiving and ARC of Wish I May. The minute I finished it I wanted to go post my review everywhere and make everyone go pre-order. It was truly a great book. This was my first book of Lexi Ryan's and she has now earned a spot on my auto buy list. Of course in my haste to read this book, I didn't do my research first. It is actually the second in the series, so there are some spoilers for the first book. But, it didn't keep me from reading Unbreak Me right after I read Wish I May :)

"That was before my life disintegrated around me, as if it were built of nothing but dust."
    ~Cally

Cally has lived a haunted past. Her junkie mom packed up her and her two younger sisters jetting off to Las Vegas when Cally was in high school. Leaving her boyfriend, Will, and father behind, Cally had to grow up far too quickly and take care of her family... by any means necessary. Will is coming off two broken engagements when Cally comes back to New Hope, and he can't help but fall right back in lust with her. The love come later :) After ending their relationship with a text message and no further communication Cally can't seem to understand why Will doesn't hate her guts. There is so much for these two to talk about but, Cally didn't plan on staying long. She just wants to get her sisters settled with their father and get back to her life as a masseuse in Las Vegas. But getting back to Las Vegas isn't as easy as Cally thought it would be and when her past comes to haunt her, she must leave before Will and the rest of New Hope find out how dark her past really is. Meanwhile, Will is doing everything within his power to make Cally stay, he now understands what he's been missing. Along with a cast of very lovable and dedicated friends Cally is struggling to find a peace with her past, and embracing her future.

"I cup her face in my hands and crush my mouth to hers, hoping she feels every painful and beautiful ounce of my love for her in this moment."
    ~Will

A lot of Will's back story is in Unbreak Me, but I did not feel lost when I read Wish I May first, and WIM is the first glimpse we get of Cally. These two have such a heartbreaking past. I really ached for them. I just wanted Cally to spew out all of her secrets and for Will to accept them and then they could move on to their HEA. Of course, that would have been too nice and tidy. Ms. Ryan is a tricky writer, just when things are going great... hello ticking time bomb, how are you? And it was one thing after another for Cally, she really could not catch a break. Cally is such a selfless character, she puts her sisters above everything and Will is right there beside her doing anything and everything he can to help, cue swooning.

"Stay. There's nothing you need to run from. I've got you. No matter what."
    ~Will

In Wish I May we get glimpses of Maggie and Asher (Book #1) and Maggie's sisters Hanna and Lizzie. And you can't help but love Maggie more for trying to protect Will. I mean someone had to, his track record with his heart is a little reckless. While Cally has amazing friends in Hanna and Lizzy she does not have anyone to help protect her heart but, she is such a strong and independent woman that she takes care of that herself. Near the end, my heart was pounding and breaking. I really could not see this ending well, but fear not, there is a happily ever after.

"I loved you enough to let you go. That's the truth. Someday soon I'll have to do it again, and it will still be the truth, even if you can't accept it."
    ~Cally

No joke, the minute I finished WIM I bought Unbreak Me and read it in one day. Lexi Ryan has a gift. I cannot wait for more books in this series, and to read her other books. She creates a drama filled atmosphere that sucks you in and leaves you a little breathless at the end. She offers equal parts captivating conflict, humor, romance, and raw passion. Trust me when I say you will not regret picking this one up.

    Happy Reading!

4.5 Stars out of 5 WOW, what can I say? HOT, HOT, HOT Holy Moses

    4.5 Stars out of 5
WOW, what can I say? HOT, HOT, HOT Holy Moses. This is the first Lexi Ryan book I’ve read, I must’ve been living under a rock!! Wow, still panting… This will not be the last Lexi Ryan I will read. I’ve have to admit I was a bit worried about jumping into a series not knowing the full story but I can assure you that this book can be read without that knowledge because it’s from William’s point of view.

Now I have to get everybody else’s point of view now! William, hot sexy, artist, professor and on the outs with cupid having struck out on love many times. Cally Fisher, his one true love is back and their worlds are destined to collide once again.

After the death of her mother, and the many difficult decisions she has had to make Cally returns to New Hope and runs right into William. Lexi then takes us on a wonderful (and hot) journey of the two lovers and has them looking into themselves as they deal with the past, with the heartaches and the emotional baggage they carry to truly find each and love each other deeply and selflessly.

William clearly hasn’t stopped loving Cally, and despite her breaking his heart she hasn’t either. This was a smoldering hot cauldron of love and yes…..don’t read this book in public. You might spontaneously combust!! I love William, he has become my new book boyfriend.

I need to go and calm down, bathe in some ice.

Lexi Ryan deals with some tough subject matter in this book.  I was unsure if I was going to like it.  She caught me up in the story and didn't let me go until I finished.  Cally was a strong character who went through so much just to make sure she and her sisters survived.  Will was his usual charming self and I was happy to see him finally get his dream.

    Amazing story

I don't write many reviews but this book was amazing. I felt everything the character was going through and felt. Wonderfully written, beauitful story of a girl who scarificed so much for her family and a boy who strived so hard to fix people but no one knew he needed fixing too. William and Cally together on the outside seemed different but really they are the same trying to find a place to fit in the world.

The story its self is so true so many different stories all in one. People turn the other cheek and never bother trying to really understand the situation... again wonderful book looking foward to more from this author.

Ohhhh where to even start with this review. Can I tell you how amazing this book was. I was so emotionally involved and moved and touched in this book that it felt like I was the one actually living this life.

Okay so we start off in the past...7 years ago. Will and Cally are two teenagers completely head over heels in love with one another. Even though Will is older and even though Cally is willing to lose her virginity to Will, but he wants to wait till prom night. To make it special and meaningful. So they decide to wait. Well whilst all this is going on Cally her two sister and her mother are moving. Her mother is divorcing their father and she is moving them to Nevada. The promise of still coming back for prom to be with Will and then still having a future with one another.

    However.....that isn't what happens......

In present time Cally is driving back home with her two younger sisters heading to their father's house. Their mother has recently died and they have no where else to go. Cally hasn't been back since she left. While yelling at the GPS system trying to find her father's house she runs into Will. And for the two of them it is like time stood still. Will is supposed to hate Cally. Pretty sure he does. I mean really she broke his heart, ripped it out of his chest and stomped on it. However, when he first sees Cally time stops and its like being back in the past and in that moment he realizes he's still in love with Cally. Cally still finds him hawt as ever and of course she still loves him.....for her it's always been Will. Instead of shoving her away or being mean he helps her find her fathers house.

So whilst all this is going on Cally finds out that her father isn't home so she'll need to take the girls to a motel for the night. As the reader we learn that Cally's life has been rough and that's putting it mildly. Cally has not had it easy or good. Her mother became a drug addict and and Cally was supporting her family because their father didn't. Not only that but Cally had to do some things that she isn't proud of. I honestly have no idea how she survived it and not only that she thrived....in a sense. Anyways the plan was to drop her sisters off, get them settled in with their father and then take back off to work. She'd send money to help out as well. However, the reality is never that easy.

On the flip side of that Will has done very well for himself. Well sorta. I mean financially and all he's set. Love life....well not so much. He's been engaged before....yeah....you'll have to read about that. And "loved" women...especially those unattainable and all and no strings attached hook ups. Looking to fill a void left in his heart from when he was a teenager. So instead of again being mean and hating Cally he offers to help her out. She is looking to find a place to work...she's a massage therapist and yes while her mother was one too with happy finishes and all, that's not Cally. So Will helps her find a place to work out of to help build some clients to help pay for things because her father's house is falling down and is in no shape to really take care of his children.

Well while this goes on feelings come back full force for the two of them and Cally is trying to be good and do the right things (especially since she knows she isn't staying this time) and Will just can't seem to stay away. One thing leads to another and all 3 girls have to vacate their father's house for a few days and Will offers to host the girls in his home. Aww.....LOVE IT!!!! I really want these two to figure things out and find that love again....I really love their characters.

Anyways one of the flingy things that Will had with a chick her name is Meredith. Uggg ugly fat cow......and I have a few other choice words for her. She comes back to constantly stir things up and she's very nasty to Cally. Cally starts to get comfortable...sort of. Her and Will kind of explore their feelings and they might finally see what being with each other is like. However, there is a few other hidden secrets that Cally has and it might be just enough to scare Will away? Can Cally run from her past? Or will it finally catch up to her? If it does what does that mean for her? Her family? And Will and his "past" that keeps coming into the present? Can Will and Cally really ever move on together? Well you'll have to read to find out and let me tell you it is sooooo worth it. This book has everything and I found myself crying a few times during this book as well as shocked, happy, sad, hawt moments, awww moments and a lot of other ones. So make sure to go get your hands on this book it is sooo worth it!!!

I knew I was in major trouble reading this book when I spouted tears after only reading the prologue. I was in for a marathon roller coaster ride of emotion, and my addiction to NA Contemporary Romances had me craving what was in the pages of this book so much so that for a few hours nothing, and I mean NOTHING, else mattered.

I fell in love with Will the minute he was introduced, in fact, I fell in love with Cally just as much. Life hadn't been easy for her, and at that pivotal moment in a teen's life, she was uprooted and just had to accept that things were never really going to be the same again. She was a sweet character and I had to wonder what is was that she'd done to make her return to New Hope so foreboding. When what had happened all those years before came to light, I still had to wonder why Cally had turned away from Will so suddenly, and the more the story progressed, them more my heart broke for her. Not only had she lost the love of her life, but she'd been forced to lead a life she never would have chosen had there been another way to protect her sisters.

As I've already mentioned, I fell in love with Will immediately, but the more I got to know him, the deeper in love I fell. He was just so charming and caring, and even after everything that had transpired between him and Cally previously, he followed his heart and gave her a second chance. He even went out of his way to help her family, and he didn't do it to "buy" her. He did it because that was the amazing man he was.

Of course, no great romance can ever run smoothly, so when Cally's past comes a knocking all hell breaks loose and she is forced to reveal her deepest, darkest secret. Brandon - Argh! My skin crawls just thinking about him - he was just despicable, and that stunt he pulled at the end...he deserved far worse than what he got!

There were many great characters in this book. I loved Lizzy and , and even wasn't so bad. Then there was Meredith. That slimy snake. I knew she was going to be a problem, but at one point I actually believed she was a nice person. Boy was I wrong.

Ryan poured so much love and heart into this story and I felt everything her characters felt; their joy, their pain, their anger, their sorrow, and even their passion. Whew! She certainly knows how to heat up the pages, and I wouldn't mind trying out that restaurant scene. It was sexy as hell. **fans self**

This book really was amazing in so many ways. It was chock-full of everything I expect from this type of read. I never wanted it to end.

If I could give it a million Bloody Crescents, even that wouldn't be enough...It was fantastic!

I finished this book in a day, almost in one sitting! It was a great read, full of heartbreak, love, reconciliation, and turmoil! Lexi did an amazing job bringing these characters to life in this book, and making you feel their pain!

Cally is back in New Hope after her mother dies to drop off her siblings with her father, and head back to Vegas to continue her job. She hasn’t been back since she was a teenager, and the first person she see’s is her ex William who she left high and dry. When they see each other you can still tell there are feelings, but you don’t know the whole story yet.

As the story progresses, you see why Cally did what she did all those years ago, and Williams love for her. My heart broke for the things Cally had to go through and why she is the way she is now. You are pulling for these two to get back together throughout the whole book, but at the same time, you want to smack William for being so willing to forget and move forward, and Cally for not just being honest!

The friends Cally left behind also, seemed a little too forgiving, but I guess that’s what good friends are for! I really liked this book, and the characters were written exquisitely and the story was very fluent! I just wish we would have seen some more of William playing a little more hard to get ;)

3.5 Stars : This book had things that I just love in a book. #1

3.5 Stars : This book had things that I just love in a book.
    #1 – A kind, selfless heroine.
#2 – An awesome, hot hero.
#3 – High school sweet hearts that separated, but still secretly in love with eachother.
    #4 – Steam
#5 – A vindictive (and I mean an absolute b***h) of an ex-girlfriend, if you even want to call her an ex.
#6 – A past that one is trying to run away from.
I think this is one series that I am glad that I did not read the first book. I think I would have felt differently about Will and not liked him as much especially since my understanding is that he wanted someone else in Unbreak Me. I would have thought he was just looking for love in all the wrong places and it would make me feel as if he was just hoping for love anywhere. So I was glad that his one true love was someone he never got over when he was in high school. I will admit, it made me leery of Will’s feelings for Cally hearing about his previous love interests. However, you can not help but fall in love with Will.
I was worried for both Will and Cally. How everything was going to work out for them, Cally did not have it easy when her mother moved her sisters and her to Vegas when she was a teenager and it coming back to her hometown just brought more challenges. Mostly people not minding their own business.
The story had a lot of revelations about Cally and Will so it had my interest throughout.
It was a nice romance about second chances.
A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.

"She can make you move, but she can't take you away from me

"She can make you move, but she can't take you away from me. You're mine. In New Hope, in Nevada, in Timbuktu, you'll always be mine."

After the death of their mother, Cally returns to New Hope with her sisters. She's running away from the life she's led since she was forced to leave seven years ago. She's keeping secrets. Cally doesn't plan to stay in town long. She can't bear the thought of facing Will again after all this time, not considering how things ended between them. Despite the time and distance, she still has strong feelings for him, but can't imagine being with him again after all these years. She's not the girl he once knew anymore. She doesn't want him to know the girl she's become.

"After seven years. After the lamest breakup in the history of breakups. After breaking his heart and dismissing my own, I'm still very much his."

Will doesn't know what Cally's life has been like since she left him. He doesn't know the real reason she broke up with him or the decisions she's had to make. All he knows is that his feelings for her, his attraction to her, is just as strong as it was when they were last together. TIme and distance can't change the trajectory of true love permanently. After a couple encounters, it's apparent she feels the same way. They have issues to overcome, but it's possible if they're both willing to try.

"How can he affect me so much more than any other man I've ever been with? He's always been the standard by which all other men have been measured and come up short."

At its core, Wish I May is a story of family, true love, forgiveness and second chances. There are many deeper issues within, but these are the ones that stood out the most for me. The characters were charming. Will was absolutely swoon-worthy. I just wanted to hug him and tell him it would all be ok. It's not often in books that you find the guy is the one who desperately wants to be in a relationship. He stands out from the crowd that way. He's sexy and sweet and swoony. I liked Cally. She was conflicted about so much, but she was still strong. She was determined to give her sisters a good life, despite what she had to give up to do so. While I might question the lengths she went to, there's no doubt she had her sisters' best interest in mind the whole time. Desperation drives people to extreme lengths. I loved her sisters, especially Drew. She seemed to always be there to break then tension when things got to be too much. I feel like I could be friends with each and every one of the characters in this book.

If you're looking for an easy, relatively angst-free story with some heat, you should definitely give this one a try. With strong characters and sweet romance; hot sexy scenes and moments that brought a tear to my eye, this book had it all.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All quotes come from the review copy and may differ from the final version.

Once I started, I couldn't have put this book down if I had wanted to. And trust me, I did not want to. This book was pretty damn devastating, but also pretty damn amazing.

Cally just broke my heart. Her past is gradually revealed throughout the story and with every new detail, my heart bled a little bit more for her. She's so strong and tries so hard to move on from her painful past, and to do the best she can for her sisters.
I loved Will so much. He's had plenty of turbulence in his own romantic history, but he's never forgotten the girl who left him behind- Cally. I loved how he couldn't bring himself to hate Cally, even though he knew he probably should. He doesn't want to hold onto the pain from her leaving, but fights for their love.

This is the second book in the New Hope series, the first is Unbreak Me, which is Maggie and Asher's story. We meet Maggie and Asher in this book as well, but this definitely works perfectly well as a standalone. I can't wait to read Maggie's story as well now!

The writing just captivated me, and it was impossible to stop reading. I was pulled deep into Will and Cally's intense and passionate story. It made me crazy cry...the kind of crying where you're a bit bewildered by how much emotion you're feeling, and you can't stop the floods. Yeah, not a pretty sight.
I was constantly on edge waiting to see when Cally's past would catch up with her, and what exactly happened with her when she left New Hope.
It's also written in dual POV, which I really enjoyed. It was so great to be able to dive into both Cally and Will's mind.

Overall, I can't recommend this enough. I was really impressed by how much I enjoyed this romantic and bumpy journey, and how much I felt connected with the characters. It's the first book I've read by Lexi Ryan, and I can wholeheartedly say it won't be the last.
