Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

Having your fondest wish fulfilled sounds like an unforgettable experience, but you don't want to make it your last one. Buddy Pancake and his buddies now regret that they hadn't read the fine print on the Wish List web site before they jumped headfirst into their fantasies. Editor's recommendation; an unforgettable book at an unbelievable price; now in mass market paperback and NOOK Book.

Tim Flannigan

Another great book from John Locke, he is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
Tammy Keith
Really the only thing I have to add to all the other reviews is that you absolutely do not press the agree button without reading all the fine print. Keeps you on the edge the entire time.

    Blow your mind AWAY

Once again, Locke has created another mind-blowing thriller. Not only was Wish List an adventure, but it was seriously funny. In life, I always tell everyone to please read the fine print of contracts, but there are plenty of people who don't really care. Locke definitely does a great job focusing on an actual message of being careful in life, but in a humorous matter. The characters in this novel were quite real. Although Buddy was a bit unlikeable, he was my favorite character. He was just hilarious to me. I've learned so much from his mistakes. Always read the fine print and read between the lines.

    Basic Plot

The story draws you along, but the revelations are predictable. Overall, I did not find it to be a satisfying read.

    Entertainingly funny and thrilling!

Wish List has a fun premise with that it's dark humor at its' best and well developed characters it is one of the best in the series. I am definitely that type of dude that reads a book and when I find a funny part I totally laugh aloud, haha. I tried to imagine how exactly Locke would end this series and I am extremely excited to say that it passed my expectations. I was kind of bummed that this came to an end but I look forward to seeing more from Locke in the near future.

    Suspense and Violence

This is the 5th book in the Donovan Creed series by Locke. In this story Locke uses a tactic similar to the Lethal Experiment by focusing on another character, Buddy Pancake, during the first half of the book. Although Locke ties Creed to the Buddy character because he owed a dead gal pal he was very close to it's still a weak story. The beginning starts out very slow, but you learn to dislike Buddy right away. There is profanity and violence we have learned to accept from Donovan Creed, but I think the violent sex scene goes a bit too far for my personal taste. I understand the thought behind the scene is to make Buddy furious enough to follow through with one of his required paybacks, but again it was a bit much for my taste.

The idea of the story, going to a website and entering four wishes for the fun of it only to find out they are being granted was intriguing. The fact the wish makers must perform 'paybacks' was a nice twist in the story. The fact that the wish granter's do not discriminate as to what wishes come true was an interesting twist; even cold, evil wishes are granted. The emotions felt by some of the characters, Jinny and Pete for example were well written, but the coldness and ignorance of Buddy was difficult to grasp. The love Lissie feels for Buddy was never explained. Why was he so lucky? Being introduced to some past characters from other books in the Creed series was a nice tie in, but didn't save the story. I liked the idea of this book, but found it a bit scattered and was disappointed with the typos; Jinny is even spelled Ginny at one point, causing some confusion. I think toward the end Buddy is referring to his wife as Jinny, which caused more confusion.

I'm a fan of Locke's I like his ideas, enjoyed most of his writing style and have actually learned to like Creed, but I was disappointed with this book. I don't like giving 1 star, but feel it fits in this case. I hope if another one is written in this series it focuses more on Creed and his malicious 007 like adventures, or even a prequel of his young life would be interesting.

Not quite what I expected. I saw the book and thought it would

Not quite what I expected. I saw the book and thought it would be interesting to read something near a romance book from a male author. It definitely did not have the typical romantic scenario. I would say the book is more of a comedy action type. It was a surprisingly easy, fast read with funny moments. It didn't end how I thought it would, then again, there were other things that happened or characters who were unexpected. Maybe the book was too short, I was left wanting to know more about some characters and there were holes left in the plot, possibly for his other books to elaborate on? I would read more from this author when I need a quick laugh but don't expect his books to make a lasting impression.

    Another surprise from Locke

Narrated by Buddy Pancake, a guy in trouble, this story has the trademark twists and turns of the other Locke novels. A quick read, but worth the download.

    Train Wreck #3

The characters in this book are definitely more appalling than the previous two, and the plot much more disturbing. I found at times that I had to put the book down so that my brain could process what was happening in the book. Despite those moments of horror, I did pick the book back up and can't deny that there were times I was laughing hysterically. John Locke has added enough humor and kept the main character light enough to offset the darkness that is ever present. Looking forward to the next in this series.

    Fun from the first page!

Buddy Pancake (just love the name) is a guy who just seems to be down on his luck and then out of the blue, the wishes that he puts into a website start to come true. The only thing is that they all come with a price and it is a pretty heavy one. You never know what will happen from one page to the next in this book. LIke all other Locke books, this has you laughing one minute and gasping in surprise the next. Very original, great dialogue and the characters are so much fun. This is another Donovan Creed book, though it does not really state it in the description. When Buddy gets himself in way over his head, he calls on Creed to help him out, and when Creed gets involved, it is nothing but a rollercoaster of fun! Yet another great book from John Locke! Just can't put these books down!
