Meet the Author

Hi I'm Emma. I am happily married with two lovely children. I have always loved reading and writing and have just written my first novel. After aquiring an obsessive love of supernatural teen novels...yes I'm a Twilight fan...I decided to write my own supernatural story based here in Manchester in the UK, near where I live and grew up. It's currently dark, windy, cold and very very wet... and easy to get inspiration!

    Reviewed for Romance With Bite!

    4 Fiery Hearts

This was a great read! The plot, and the elements that make up vampire existence in this book were quite unique. I was hooked from the first page, and the fact that it was set in my beloved UK is a bonus for me.

Emma sets a scene really well, making the reader feel like they're right there without any effort, and the characterisation was also really good. There was something happening in every chapter in this book, right from chapter one, and I wasn't bored at all while reading it. I mention this because I can often get quite bored when I read YA fiction (I don't read it that often because of this) - maybe it's the angst and the usual teen trauma. Although there was angst in this book, I didn't feel that it dragged on, and thought it was very realistic (in so far as a paranormal book can be) and true to the character.

You've got a little bit of everything in this vampire story: bloodlust, sexual urges, a vampire society, the dichotomy between holding onto your humanity and being drawn to your new vampiric life, witches, a tiny bit of magic, and ... other (I won't say what it is in case people consider it a spoiler).

So, why 4 stars instead of 5? Because 5 stars says to me that it simply can't get any better, and from reading the chapter one teaser of the next book, Witchcraft, that you get as a bonus in this one, I just know that the second book will be even better - that's quite a first chapter - drops you straight into the thick of it!

If anyone's looking for a new YA author to try, I definitely recommend Witchblood. It's an excellent start to what looks like will be a fantastic series, and I can't wait to read book two :)

Source: I was given a free eBook copy from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

    Fantastic read!

This book was such a good read! It just sucked me in imediatly, and kept me well intrested through the end. I loved her take on the vampires and the discriptions of our "chocolate aroma." I was extreamly upset to find its very new and the next book 'witchcraft' wont be out for a while im sure. The only disapointing thing was it felt like a very short read even though it said it was over 500 pages.

In Witchblood, Emma Mills introduces a world where vampires, witches, and angels walk among us. As we follow Jess's journey through the realization that she has not only been transformed into a vampire, but that she is also something more, we can't help but be swept up in the world that Mills creates. The characters feel real, the world feels authentic, and the story literally throbs with an underlying intensity that builds with each page. In short, Witchblood is an imaginative, satisfying read that still manages to leave the reader hungry for more.

    Vampire-Witch (what a combination)

I purchased this book looking for something to read... I didn't think Vampires would be something in the story... As I read on I couldn't put it down.. Even with my eyes heavy I kept on reading.. This is something different from vampire novels... She has a past that was hidden from her.. She comes back to life but she feels/crys/craves normal food/ etc.. She can't let go of her human life.. Yet even having feelings for Daniel growing she still loves her bf Luke.. She can't stop thinking about him... Its a story that will keep you reading.. Their biting arouses them in sexual ways lol which you think they are almost going to do it... I would recommend this book to anyone

    Just the begining

Easy, fast reading. This book captivates you with the characters history, conflict, and plot. I am sure it will be in the second book that the story will really take off. Its a book you will need to read to know how everyone plays a roll in jessica's journey into a new life for the second book.

    Awesome debut novel!!!!

My review of Witchblood by Emma Mills

RATING 5*****(WOULD GO WAY HIGHER IF I COULD )

Jessica is a typical college student. She has a great best friend named Alex who is also her roommate. The two are inseparable and enjoy life that way. She also has a way hot boyftiend named Luke who has been her childhood sweetheart and they are still going strong ...that is until one night changes everything. Jessica and Alex go to a local bar for a night of fun. Alex dips out early leaving Jessica to walk home on her own. On her way Jessica is brutally attacked and left for dead.
Daniel fell for Jessica from the time he seen her walk into the club. For some reason she could resist the vampire glamour he tried to use on her. When he found Jessica laying in the alley he just couldn't let her go like that. So he saved her.
Upon awakening to her new life, Jessica realizes nothing in her past life was as it seemed. Down to her father there were secrets kept that is set to change her destiny. Even Luke isn't the person she thought he was. While she is sorting out the people from her past Daniel seems to be the rock she can lean on. But she loves Luke right???

I have to say this book was beyond amazing. I was referred to it by another author and she was dead on. It culminates vampires who are yummy and sensitive with a dose of angels and witches ...a paranormal lovers dream. The author vividly portrays Jessica's struggle from human to vampire and all the growing pains associated with it. Overall an exceptionally well written novel!!!!
