Overview

'Things have to come to an end, see. That's how it works when you turn the world into stories. You should never have done that. You shouldn't treat people like they was characters, like they was things. But if you do, then you've got to know where the story ends.'

That's the problem when you let real life get in the way of a good story. You shouldn't let it happen. Especially when a good story involves three witches, including a fairy godmother, travelling to a faraway land to make sure that a servant girl doesn't marry a prince. It looks as though a happy ending may be averted before catastrophe strikes. But unfortunately the forces of good are up against a Godmother who has made Destiny an offer it can't refuse...

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Engaging, surreal satire . . . nothing short of magical.” — Chicago Tribune

APR/MAY 08 - AudioFile

In Terry Pratchett’s fantastical tale, a small sect of blundering witches sets out on a remarkable journey to the city of Genua to stop the prince’s marriage. It’s a fun adventure geared toward the younger generation but thoroughly enjoyable by listeners of all ages. Narrator Nigel Planer is incredibly charming and thoroughly precise in his delivery. His witty English accent adds to the adventure and fantasy elements of this story. Planer is so good that his narration is less an inspired reading than a remarkable one-man show. A theatrical atmosphere is created from his rich pallet of ominous tones and whiny witchlike voices. L.B. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine
