Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - BriAnne Baxley MLIS
When three sisters move across the street from Sam, the canine detective, they bring with them an unsettling feeling of curiosity. With a watchful eye and help from her friends, Jennie and Beth, Sam has reason to suspect that these ladies are not just ordinary neighbors. Toads, a variety of animals going into the house but not coming out, a boiling pot of undetermined substance, and an unusually scary man become their clues. With the information at hand it makes it far too easy for the friends to settle that the sisters are in fact witches. However, like a good detective Sam and her friends must find every piece of evidence. With detective skills and help from each other, readers will join these friends in finding out the truth about these new neighbors. Young readers will enjoy the mystery and feel part of the process through the simple text and cartoon like artwork. "Sam & Friends Mystery" graphic novels can be read in the form of a series or as independent reads without taking away from the plot or adventure. This title is number four in the series.
