Jade Calhoun was never fond of her empath abilities. Now she's discovered she has another gift she'd rather not unwrap-magic. But when her mentor, Bea, becomes gravely ill and insists Jade's the only one who can help, she's forced to embrace her witchy side.

It's too bad she spent a decade shunning the magical community and never learned to harness her powers. Because time's run out. A trapped spirit has revealed a clue to Jade's long-lost mother. The resident angel has gone rogue and disappeared with Jade's boyfriend, Kane. And if that wasn't enough, her ex appears to be possessed.

To save any of them, Jade will need to find a way to control her inner white witch-without succumbing to black magic. Otherwise she'll lose everything...including her soul.

    Fun!

I was recommended Deanna Chase by my nook tablet I believe. Like a Lays chip could not read just one! This and the first installment are just well fun! I love being in New Orleans. I love the colorful secondary supporting characters. What kept me from giving fivr stars is Jade. She is a little stubborn in regards to her gifts. Granted we do find out why and its not all her fault. I also accept with the popularity of this gendre at the moment finding a fresh twist not easy. The newest installment is out soon. I recommend you start with book one of series and join the rest of us nuts! Chase is just fun. I love being entertained by her and cannot wait for the next read!

    Its OK...

I stumbled on the the first one, had to get this one. I enjoyed it to a point....and I will even get the third one. That being said, the writing is amateur, the storyline forgetable and there is no investment in the characters. If Bea needs an energy transfer every two pages in the third one like she did in this one, Im going to lose my mind.

The author goes on and on about how powerful a witch Bea is, but she falls weak and needs an energy transfer constantly. Jade has no idea what shes doing, whines about it and makes you want to slap jer silly. You know, never mind... I wont be getting the third book.... I dont want to sit through chapter after chapter of energy transfers that usually go wrong.

Loved it, waiting for the 3rd book!

I enjoyed this book as much as the first. This one ends with a few unanswered questions so I'll await the 3rd book. Jade finds out she is more of a powerful witch than she'd like to admit to. She must use those powers to save Kane and others. I don't want to give anything away. Well worth your time!!

Jade and Kane are an established couple now, but they face some

Jade and Kane are an established couple now, but they face some seriously rough waters ahead. This book expands on the idea of Jade and her powers, and particularly how she should have been trained as a witch from an early age - an idea that she abhorred since she lost her mother to magic when she went out one night with her coven and never came home. She had disappeared, leaving Jade with a hole in her life and in her heart that she's never truly recovered from.

But now Jade is embracing the craft because she has been given a glimpse of her mother - still alive but trapped somewhere by an evil demon, a former witch who used black magic and went to the dark side. Jade, Pyper, Kane, and crew are all in this one together as each is impacted by the evil witch in some nefarious way.

As in the first book there is good character building, and they develop more layers and depth in this book. And the story is exciting, with lots of action for all - whether they want it or not! An entertaining enough read that I would happily get the next in the series.

    Series has grown on me.

Wow what a great book. I love the strong female character lead and Kane her boyfriend. They really match each other. Would love to see these books as movies!

    This story captures you

If you like a combination of mystery, supernatural and romance this series is for you. I had to read one right after the other. The New Orleans setting was a nice touch too. PLUS it was a great Nook bargain! The first two books in the series are better than the third. Each one gets a little more far out but you can't read two without finding out what happens in the third and final book.

    Entertaining

Each book in this series seems to get better; I'm guessing it is because I am getting to know the characters and enjoy them.
