Overview

It is 1792, over ten years after Britain's defeat by the American colonies, and the bitter humiliation still sticks in the Admiralty's craw. Now brutal smugglers, many of them naval deserters, occupy the Channel, plying their trade between England and France. Richard Bolitho's mission: to send three small cutters to fight the treacherous raiders off the coast of Kent.

As war with France looms, Bolitho soon finds himself and his three small ships facing more enemies than friends....

Editorial Reviews

Philadelphia Bulletin
Critics... dubbed Kent a worthy successor to C. S. Forester.... This hardly seems fair, for Kent's writing is fresh, singular, and worthy of judgement solely on its own high merit.
Sunday Times
One of our foremost writers of naval fiction.
Library Journal - Library Journal
These are the four most recent titles in Kent's ongoing adventures of 18th-century fighting British sailor Richard Bolitho. Good fun for fans of nautical fiction. Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
