A FASCINATING READ

kurland may have taken her numerous families as far as she dare and keep the ideas fresh but she at least provides the readers with a story that has lots of sexual tension but doesn't sell out to the lowest common denominator- sex for sex sake. As for the "Scottishness" thank God we didn't get some silly "canna/dinna" story set in the Highlands where they historically spoke Gaelic not Scots. That alone made this a great read.

A good read, well worth the time and money the reader will spend.

    MacLeods

What a wonderful series and a shame the whole MacLeods series is not available on the Nook. They are the kind of books you want to read over and over again.

This is a really good read. The characters and the storyline are strong. Watching these two get back together after being separated is heartwarming and very endearing. One of Ms. Kurland's best. This is an amazing, sweet, exhilarating time-travel romance with some major, heart-strings pulling pain within it's exciting pages. "With Every Breath" grabbed me and took my breath away as I read about it's characters and their bumpy ride through time. This story is a beautiful romance about two people falling in love and then becoming separated by fate and time. The characters are likable and believable. I enjoy and love all of Lynn Kurland's excellent books and stories, but this one comes out on top of my list as a beloved favorite. The writing, story-line and plot are engaging and fun to read. This story captured my imagination and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way to it's satisfying and wonderful end.
With Every Breath is recommended and goes on my keeper shelf right next to ALL of my other Lynn Kurland historical romances. Enjoy!

    Beautiful story!

I had never read a time-travel book, but I loved books about Scotland. I "accidentally" bought this one and I am so glad that I did! It reaches out and touches your heart. Toward the end, I didn't want to read because I didn't want it to end. After this book, I was hooked and I have now read all of her books. None of them will disappoint!!

    A new twist in time...

In A Garden In The Rain, we got to meet Sunshine Phillips, Madeline's herb-wielding older sister. Madeline and Patrick MacLeod are now settled in Scotland, but Moraig, the healer/witch/whatever-she-might-be who lives in Patrick's little hut, has died and left her home and legacy to Sunny. Sunny is almost perfectly happy in her crooked little hut amongst her herbs... but she wants love, even though it seems impossible to find. Then Robert Cameron, laird of the clan Cameron, pulls her across her threshold into the 14th century so she can attempt to save his brother's life... It's obvious from the start that Sunny won't be able to return home right away, and that Cameron and Sunny will fall in love. And fall in love they do. But that's where the 'standard' time-travel romance plots deviate from this one. I won't give away early spoilers like I'm sure other reviewers will do 'judging from reviews on other bookseller sites'. I'll just say that Lynn Kurland has introduced a new twist here that is quite interesting, as well as fun to watch the characters figure out. She's got a new breed of villain in this book as well. Other characters from her books are included in this story, too... but not in the wild confusion that some new readers complained about in When I Fall in Love. Those that are included here each serve a purpose and are introduced nicely for those who might not not have been introduced to them yet. All in all, this is a great story. Not her best, 'I reserve that for If I Had You, This is All I Ask, and The Mage's Daughter'... but still five-star. After all, Lynn Kurland is in a class of her own.

This is an entertaining time travel romance

In 2005, American Sunshine Phillips is exhilarated to be staying in sexy Scotland in the cool late March rain she loves her stay and reconsiders returning to Seattle as that would mean leaving the Highlands she cherishes. As she lives in the witches¿ cottage on the MacLeod estate, she wonders how to extend her stay beyond the summer.--------------- In 1375 concerned Robert Cameron rushes into the Macleod witches¿ cottage to demand one of the occupants help his dying brother Breac. He reaches across time grabbing Sunny to assist his sibling critically wounded due to Robert¿s open fight with the backstabbing Fergussons. As he and Sunny fall in love, treachery sends the pair fleeing through the time portal, but they alight separately with her grieving her loss and he not remembering his fourteenth century life or his love. When they meet again, Sunny despairs because her Cameron fails to know her.-------------------- This is an entertaining time travel romance starring two stubborn likable protagonists who if they fail to open up will lose a chance for a loving relationship between them. The story line is fast-paced with the paradoxes of time adding to the fun of the tale. Sunny is terrific as she struggles to persuade Robert that the impossible is possible when love makes it happen.--------- Harriet Klausner

Best of Kurland's Scottish time travel romances.

I am a Kurland junkie and have read all her books. I have read this one three times and enjoyed it each time. It has a wonderfully romantic Scottish laird and a lovely brave and vulnerable woman. Highly recommend this book.

    ******* a million stars *****

I'm 22, and I got this book from my mothers book shelf. I have to admit I'm one of those "judges a book by the cover type" so the scene on the front caught my attention. I never thought in a million years I would like a book about "time travel" let me tell you..I read this book 5 years ago, and STILL talk about it to this day. honestly one of my favorites :)

Another good one from Ms. Kurland

Time travel romances are probably my favorite of sub-genres and Lynn Kurland is one of my favorite authors. I usually just pick up the new one without even looking at the synopsis. I liked this book's twist on the whole time travel idea (at least it was a twist for me). There were times though that I found the interactions between Sunny and Robert redundant. They would meet say "how are we going to get through this?" and cry. (I'm oversimplifying but that's how I felt.) So, although it may have taken me a little bit longer than usual to get through it I would still recommend if you enjoy the genre and the MacLeods.

A wonderful romance writer, emphasis on the romance

I recently discovered Ms. Kurland and wonder how I ever missed her before. She weaves past into present in a way that makes the possibility almost believable and develops her characters so beautifully that she makes you want to actually meet them outside the pages of a book. Even six books into the MacLeod Series, Ms. Kurland avoids presenting watered down characters and regurgitated romance. The conflicts the two lovers face - outside of the time-travel thing - are realistic for the time and provide reasonable impetus for moving the story forward out of the past and into the present. I was so enchanted with Sunny's and Robert's story of improbable love that I am definitely going to go back to the beginning and meet Jaime and Elizabeth, Patrick and Madelyn, and all the others.

    Loved it!

The book was touching, funny, and romantic. Though there are no love scenes, the MacLeods, funny lines, and romantic interaction more then makes up for it. Can't wait for her next book. I need a MacLeod myself.

I was thrilled to finally read another of Lynn's books, as I've read them all! What a wonderful job she did with Sunny's character, and she showed that Cam is definitely the brave, macho highlander that also has a very sensitive side. You could actually 'feel' the ' oh so many' emotions they go through in this novel. Great job, Lynn! You are brilliant!

I really enjoy reading Lynn Kurland's books. I love the characters, the story lines, and that they are long romances without the needless sex stuff. This book will not disappoint fans however, I will say that the characters were far to weepy for me. It seemed as though she would write herself into a corner, and to get herself out of it she had Sunny and Cam embrace and bawl. It got a little tedious. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book.

    Honestly couldn't finish it....

I had high hopes for this book but I found it very stale. I liked Sunny's character and goodness knows Cameron was attractive, but I thought their interaction got redundant very quickly. It got your blood pumping about as much as Mr. Rogers. I make a point to always finish books, but this one I had to put down. By the time the action started moving, I was ready for a new story. Hope her other books are a bit stronger because I had heard good things!
