“Habib Sadeghi is an insightful, kind man who approaches healing in a fresh and uncomplicated way. If one is able to acknowledge that illness is created by an imbalance in the body, and that one’s state of mind and emotional well-being are integral to the overall health of the body, then Habib has practical suggestions on how to achieve a new realm of health and healing.”
Tim Robbins, actor, director, producer
Dr. Sadhegi has shown me how my outside often reflects my inside; how our minds and bodies mirror each other. He has helped me a great deal, and I hope that through this book more people can enjoy the benefit of his compassion.

"When you locate a person in your world that is able to understand who you are at a very deep level you rejoice at your great good fortune. When you locate a doctor in your world who is able to know what is going on throughout your body in a holistic way you also rejoice at such a fortunate discovery. When you find that the doctor you have met is also such an intuitive person you are permitted to spend a few moments in completely honest disbelief . . . it is totally natural. Dr. Habib Sadeghi is such a person and such a doctor . . . welcome to the wonderful world of life's realizations and health filled resolutions that reach way beyond your brightest expectations."

When you get to a certain point in life, you begin to realize there are larger forces at work in the universe, or at least you suspect there might be. Maybe things don’t happen randomly. Maybe everything does have a purpose. Maybe my role in this life isn’t what it appears to be and just maybe; I’m more powerful than I ever allowed myself to believe. Then, you meet someone who’s living from this awareness and it changes everything.
That’s how I felt when I met Dr. Habib Sadeghi. His expertise in integrative medicine is what brings patients to him from all over the world, but it’s really his understanding of how the mind, body and spirit are connected that creates dramatic changes in people’s lives; mine included. He understands what much of modern medicine is only now beginning to explore. Our thoughts and emotions have far more influence on our health than we’ve ever imagined. In fact, it’s so significant that you might think of our bodies as just the physical printouts of what’s already going on in our hearts. Dr. Sadeghi knows that regardless of the challenges someone might be facing, healing has to start at a deeper level for it to be complete and lasting.
Since 2008, I’ve been a part of the Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) organization that raises funding for cancer research. Every other year, the program holds a telethon to raise money for grant awards that will go to emerging research projects around the world. Celebrities, musicians, professional athletes and world-renowned cancer researchers take part in the event to bring awareness to the issue and provide updates on finding a cure. Last year, we raised $81 million for a total of $137 million since the SU2C movement began.
In 2012, I wanted to bring a new perspective to the SU2C event. I wanted to give a voice to the emerging science of how the mind and body communicate with each other in working to produce our state of health. For me, that voice is Dr. Sadeghi. He knows more about the mind/body balance than anyone I know. It’s not just because he’s an international expert on integrative medicine. It’s because he has the kind of experience that can’t be taught. He’s a doctor who’s also been a patient. He’s been to the edge of what looked like an insurmountable situation and overcame it. He didn’t just survive. He thrives by applying the life principles you’ll read in this book. Yes, he really does practice what he preaches.
I truly believe that the best teacher anyone can have is someone who’s “been there” and Dr. Sadeghi has been there…and back. That’s why last year, he became one of the first osteopathic physicians to ever participate in SU2C, providing his life-changing wisdom alongside researchers and Nobel Laureates from around the world.
I like to think of Dr. Sadeghi’s approach to healing as active compassion. He has a way of intuitively connecting with people that makes them feel instantly understood, safe and at ease. He also gives them the tools they need to affect real change in their lives. That’s more than just encouraging. It’s empowering. Isn’t that what we all want during the times we feel vulnerable? We want our power back.
It’s my privilege to call Dr. Sadeghi my friend. He’s brought clarity to my life in ways that only someone with an old soul truly can. I guess that’s why some people actually do call him the Old Soul Doctor. As you read these pages, I’ve no doubt that his insights will touch you in very much the same way. While the focus of Within might be on weight loss, please remember that the principles it teaches can be applied to any challenge you’re facing. Whether you want to lose weight, improve your health, repair your relationships or something else, the cause of how we’re creating our personal world is always found Within. That’s where you’ll find the answer, too.
