Within the Loudest Silence
Within the Loudest Silence posthumously chronicles the life of Ann Marie Potter; A mother, divorcee, multiple suicide attempt survivor, proud bike activist, depression and suicide victim - and the ripple effect these had on the lives surrounding her. Through boisterous laughter and brutal honesty, comes a story that both looks at the beauty of pain, and how love and family can guide us through it. Using notes and chapters from his mother's unfinished memoir after her death, her son, Stephen, manages to finish her story by showing his own. This pensive yet profound dual memoir intricately weaves together the life of a late mother and her son, asking the question, 'When life becomes tragic, does it have to be considered a tragedy?'

About the Author

Ann Marie Potter was a writer, author, and journalist, perfecting her unique voice over a career spanning decades. Beginning as a high school correspondent in Marlborough, Massachusetts, she later received her BFA in journalism from UMass Amherst while simultaneously working as a fill-reporter for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. Interning at Capitol Hill during the Carter administration, she then moved into political reporting on the House and Senate floors, leading her to a full-time position at The Boston State House. After moving to Connecticut to work for Mintz & Hoke Communications in Avon and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in Hartford, she contributed articles to the Hartford Courant, The Simsbury News, Patch.com, and various local media before her passing in 2017.

Stephen James Potter is a writer, as you can tell from where you’re reading this biography! A professionally trained storyteller, Stephen has spent the last half decade traveling the country after receiving his BFA from The Hartt School. When not performing or writing, Stephen loves crafting music, eating cheese fries from Chili’s, and spending far too much time with his dog Mr. Pokeylope, with whom he currently resides in New York City.
