Hilton Kramer
One of the few indispensable autobiographies ever written by an American — and one of the best written too... It deserves to be recognized as a first class achievement.— The New Criterion

A foundational historical document for understanding all that has transpired spiritually, politically, and intellectually in America during the 20th Century to today's news headlines. Above all else "Witness" brings clarity out of the deliberate, purposeful obfuscation of the Marxist liberals now holding the commanding heights of power in the federal government. Well written, it is nearly impossible to put down and has the authentic tension, drama, smell, and emotional color of one of the most dangerous periods of American history, second only to the destruction that the U.S.Constitution and the American Republic is currently suffering at hands of the very people about which Whittaker Chambers in his book, "Witness,"valiantly attempted to warn us.

Absolutely stunning. Both a tearful confession and a profound moral statement rolled into one volume. Impossible to stop reading. The book pulls you in, takes you along for the ride and doesn't let go until it has etched its indelible mark on you. Rarely is a book ever truly deserving of the designation 'life-changing,' but this is one of those books.

This book shows that one Man can make a differance. Mr. Chambers stood astride history and yelled STOP! And set off a chain of events that led to the rise of the modern Conservative and the fall of the Evil Empire. This book is a must for every American. Rush,Reaganism and Revolution!!

If there is any work which is definitive of the 20th century, this is surely it. Chambers provides an amazingly detailed first-hand account of a most pivotal point in our history and why he was compelled to make an attempt (albeit probably in vain--he thought)to take us from the brink. Thank God that the West did afterall have sufficient fortitude and 'faith' to ultimately triumph over Communism--despite Chambers' serious cynicism.
