Children's LiteratureThe stage is set: the Ancient Wizard of Wigglewand has selected the reader to rescue the village of Wigglewand from the evil Wrinklewit. Wrinklewit has closed all the roads to Wizardry Castle and readers must overcome creepy, spooky hazards to rescue the Ancient Wizard's power medallion. Readers must work their way through 27 mazes, some fairly easy but most quite intricate, to achieve their goal. On the whole, the mazes force readers to use their powers of concentration and creativity. They are colorful, visually interesting and varied. Some of the mazes occupy one page; however, some of the mazes fill up a complete page spread. Mazes stretching across two pages are much harder to do because the book is bound down the middle. A binder format would have been easier to manipulate because the pages would lie flat. 2003, Sterling Publishing Co, Ages 10 to 14.
