The Wizards Tarot by Corrine Kenner, published April 2014 by Llewellyn Worldwide, is an exquisitely beautiful tarot deck illustrated with digital artwork by John J. Blumen. This deck and accompanying eighty page booklet will take you on a journey into Mandrake Academy where you will learn from the instructors of the Major Arcana the lessons of magic. You will also learn the four elemental school from the minor Arcana. This tarot deck is based on the Rider-Waite system so it is easy to use. In the eighty page booklet we are introduced to the cards and while reading about each card we are taught little lessons such as how amulets are worn for protection and typically made of stone while talismans are made from metal and worn for luck. Also, in the back we are given a three card spread called, “The Empress’s Garden Spread”. I really enjoyed this deck and its’ instructors. I think that the idea is a good one. I do wish the accompanying booklet taught us a bit more but it is good to learn some very basic things. I think that the 242 page handbook included with the first version of this deck would be useful for this version as well and wish that it was included with the newer version. Overall, this is a wonderful tarot deck and would be a great addition to any practitioners collection with its beautiful artistry and ideas. I acknowledge that I received a copy of this deck for free from Llewellyn Worldwide in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of it.
