About the Author

Scott Ian Barry has had more than thirty years of experience as a wildlife photographer. His photos have been published in the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times and with the Smithsonian Institution and the Sierra Club. Barry has appeared with a wolf at Carnegie Hall in New York City and on NBC's Today Show. His extraordinary photos of wolves appear in the children's book Kingdom of the Wolves, which won the oustanding science trade book award from the National Science Teacher's Association, and in a wolf calendar. After privately viewing Barry's award-winning wildlife portfolio, Ansel Adams called Barry's images "striking and generous portraits." Barry lives in Woodstock, New York.

Read an Excerpt

"Wolf packs are families in every sense of the word, as much as the human family—except with several major differences: wolves don't get divorced; they don't abuse or abandon their children; and they don't go on TV talk shows, spilling their guts about their failed relationships to other wolves. Now which do you think is the more intelligent species?"
