Nordan twists the outline of real events into an altogether new shape within which a teacher conducts a magical mystery tour of the mid-20th century American southern ethic. "No writer since Flannery O'Connor has better captured the nuances of white trash culture."--North Carolina Independent.

Lewis Nordan is a great story teller and has a wonderful eye and ear for white trash culture and thinking. One never knows whether to laugh or cry at the antics of the characters but you can always bet that if you start laughing Nordan will in the next instant inflect pain with a 'smack the side of the head'. A great read. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
