Overview

One of Marvel Comics' favorite characters, Wolverine is a mutant who possesses animal-like instincts, super-enhanced strength, and the ability to heal from any wound. While he was part of the Weapon X program his skeletal structure was bonded with the near-destructible alloy adamantium, and now very little can stop him.

DK's publishing program celebrates Wolverine's classic comic book roots, with gorgeous imagery, classic story lines, and a nod to the franchise that Wolverine has become.

Super-fans can learn about Wolverine's comic book debut (a cameo in a Hulk comic in 1974), and the development of his character, his story, the X-Men, and more in our comprehensive and spectacularly illustrated Ultimate Guide.

Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Matthew Weaver
Snikt! go the sounds of Wolverine's adamantium- covered claws. On the heels of the latest movie about one of Marvel's signature mutant superheroes comes everything everyone ever needs to know about the popular comic book mainstay. Literally. Decades of information merge seamlessly in a beautifully illustrated package. Practically every nook and cranny of the character's history gets attention, from a long line of love interests to his mortal enemies. It is no small feat when one considers that Wolverine's backstory has been a mystery until relatively recently in the comics world, yet the book is remarkably current with ongoing story. Every reference book or textbook wishes it could be this cool and up-to-date. Although the book is no doubt of greatest interest to diehard fans, if readers have ever opened an issue of X-Men, even with vague interest, chances are there is something here for them. If not, odds are good that the book will do a good job of convincing one to do so. Even those who remain steadfast in their dislike for comic books will find something of value here, especially if they love someone who loves Wolverine. The book offers the chance for common ground and the ability to speak knowledgeably on a topic of great depth and historical value. Like Wolverine's signature quote says, he is the best there is at what he does . . . and that is pretty darn awesome. Reviewer: Matthew Weaver
