Children's Literature - Denise DaleyWolves are social creatures that live in family groups called packs. Pack members hunt together and raise baby pups together. This book describes how wolves hunt by using their eyes, nose, ears, strong jaws, and sharp teeth to capture prey such as deer, elk, beavers, rabbits, and mice. It also explains how all of the wolves in a pack help to care for the pups and how they all respect the pack leaders: the alpha male and female. The book concludes with a brief history of wolves and a description of what is being done to try to prevent them from becoming extinct. There are full-size photographs on every other page and a detailed glossary and index at the back of the book. Intended for middle level readers, this book will greatly appeal to anyone with an interest in animals and wildlife. It is part of the "Nature's Children" series. Reviewer: Denise Daley
