When I hear Maysa's voice I want more. Her style is by far among the best of the best vocalist in this era. A Woman in Love blends the style's of jazz standards to a whole new sound of soulful R&B. Maysa's followers knows how she can take a song, and make it her own. Covering a Michael Jackson song is no easy task. She takes a song from one of Michael's more popular albums, Lady in my Life, and expresses an even more satiny soulful groove. Honey Bee comes of as a jazzy blues, pimping, grown folks in the p.m. track. It is sassy, sexy, and can easily be carried over into mainstream R&B. Maysa's cover of Willow Weep for Me is set against a Brazilian jazz like funk filled with a brassy horns and percussion. Again Maysa doesn't disappoint here audience. This cd is filled with collaborations, scatting, and fusion of jazz and real R&B. A great cd from beginning to end.
