Overview

Julia Devaux loves big cities. She's partial to chic cafes and old movies and charming men. So she's not ready to be relocated by the Witness Protection Program to a small isolated town in the middle of nowhere. But it's either that or be whacked by the mafia don she witnessed murdering one of his minions. Simpson, Idaho doesn't have chic cafes or cult movie theaters or even sidewalks. And it definitely doesn't have charming men.

It does have Sam Cooper, former Navy SEAL, now horse breeder, who makes her feel safe and excited at the same time. True, he doesn't have any charming conversation in him. But conversation isn't what Cooper does best.
The gorgeous new second grade schoolteacher who just showed up one day in Simpson is a miracle in Cooper's eyes. Beautiful and smart and kind, she has the town of Simpson wrapped around her little finger. His heart, too, though he doesn't have the words to tell her that. But when killers come for her, Cooper doesn't need words to show what he feels. He's willing to lay down his life for her.

How could you ask for a leading man any better...a former SEAL and a rancher! It's a little on the lighter side..but still fantastic!

Has a little less sex than her other books but I love that this one features a rancher. Men and horses are a favorite of mine.

I already had this book. It had a different cover and was published 1Sep 2004. Check if you previously bought it. It is an excellant book and I will re-read it now, but am glad I didn't pay for a second copy!

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Associate Reviewer - Marta C: *eARC received in exchange for an honest review Fabulous book! I haven't read a lot of romantic suspense novels and certainly never one from this author but confess to being blown away by it! I really wasn't that intrigued by the idea of a woman on witness protection acting as a teacher whilst meeting and falling for an ex Navy Seal but boy was I in for a very pleasant surprise! From their first meeting which was hilarious and involved the heroine Julia Devaux hitting Sam Cooper(Coop) over the head with a pumpkin of all things to their very steamy and passionate relationship there was nothing that I didn't like. This hero puts the T in taciturn!  Truly a man of few words but boy did he provide action! A sensitive and caring heroine and well fleshed out supporting characters made  this an interesting story. I will confess that I realized who the "bad guy" was, but then I do read an awful lot of fiction and I am sure many readers will be pleasantly surprised by the ending of this book and the epilogue was especially sweet! I will also admit that I just sat and read this in one sitting and ignored housework as it was that good. :) Would I recommend this book? Definitely! Will I try more from this author? Silly question as the answer is one hundred percent yes!  LITERAL ADDICTION's Associate Reviewer gives Woman on the Run 5 Skulls.

Coop makes john waynes character in "The Quiet Man" seem chatty in comparison. Getting to read his thoughts is equal amounts of raw sexuality, humor and overwhelming adoration of Julia. Julia is a character that i would love to have as a friend.
