Overview

This illuminating view of how women understand and process the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous explores such essential topics as spirituality, powerlessness, and the emergence of a woman's sense of feminine soul. A Woman's Way Through the Twelve Steps remains true to the underlying spiritual truths of the Twelve Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous while triumphantly overcoming the traditional male orientation of Alcoholics Anonymous. For every woman who has felt there are issues crucial to her recovery that just can't be brought up in a mixed-gender meeting, this book sheds encouraging feminine light on the wisdom of A.A.

Created to make the Twelve Step program more accessible to women and the way they experience addiction, this book illuminates each step to reveal the underlying meaning from a woman's viewpoint. In the second part, the author discusses major themes in the lives of recovering women, including spirituality, powerlessness, and the emergence of the feminine soul.

A Woman's Way - not better, just softer.

"The Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous" was written in the 1940's, and has helped millions of people deal with the problem of alcoholism
inclding me since 1988. About a month ago, someone introduced me to "A Woman's Way through the Twelve Steps" written in 1994 by Stephanie S. Covington, Ph.D. This book does not detract from the original step book - it just adds women's comments on each of the steps. I've found it to be extremely helpful in my under-
standing of the steps of AA, and most highly recommend it, both to new-
    comers and others in recovery.

Excellent book for women in recovery

I attend a women's AA Step meeting every week, and we use this book. It
helps us to focus and truly addresses women's issues.
