The American public knew little of their fighting sons in Viet Nam--and even less of the young girls who kept those boys alive. Mr Steinman was Masterful in his presentation of ver batim words from those young girls--now middle aged women. But their words were as the 20 year old kids that they were then, and perhaps still are in thier hearts and minds. I KNOW---I was a Nurse in Viet Nam--ALL of us VOLUNTEERED. The stories will tell you WHY we did so.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This seems to be the guiding force behind the book. No matter what you know (or think you know) about Vietnam (in my case, very little), this book will open your eyes. Reading this book led me to next read The Soldiers' Story. Understanding the motivations and experiences of the women who served, their similarities and their differences, is vital to an understanding of the Vietnam Conflict and the role of women in the military. Sometimes a bit hard to understand because the speaker's words are unedited. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
