About the Author

Dr. Maria A. Kunstadter is a mom in a male-dominated profession seeking to raise two daughters and two sons to be nonsexist, and not to be limited by preconceived roles. She holds a B.A. from Drury College, and a D.D.S. from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry. She and her husband Mike, also a dentist, alternate their work schedules to share in their dental practice and home responsibilities. This is her first book, written to counter experiences her daughters have had in which they were discouraged from considering male-dominated educations and career paths. This book does not feature models or fictional characters, but real women of different cultural backgrounds, ages and sizes engaged in a wide variety of careers.
Color photographs used in Women Working A to Z were taken by Shari Stanberry, a freelance photographer from Kansas City, Missouri. Married to her high school sweetheart, she has a daughter and a son. Her photographs have appeared in various publications and galleries, but this is her first children’s book. Black and white photographs were contributed by the subjects.
