This beautifully illustrated book tugs at your heart strings as it points out that the differences in nature are normal. This encourages readers to accept themselves just the way they are, thus empowering them to feel comepetent and safe with their won strengths, uniqueness and gifts. There are many animals, facts and lessons of nature that teach us about ourselves throughout the book. It is a must read.
Children's Literature - Meredith Kiger
This is a hodgepodge of scenes from nature which are used to relate to some of life's important lessons. For instance, a turtle's return to the same beach each year is used to illustrate tenaciousness, a beaver rebuilding its damn to illustrate perseverance, and dolphins playing to illustrate the importance of enjoying what you do. The illustrations are realistic and appealing, but the overall effect is a little heavy for young children.
Children's Literature - Kristin Harris
Wonderful Nature, Wonderful You begins with the premise that we can learn a lot from nature. "Everything in nature is perfect the way it is, and so are you." This philosophical book looks at various aspects of nature as a source of inspiration to children. Physical change, emotional changes, playing in the moment, not rushing and doing the best you can, being yourself, being peaceful-each concept is accompanied with a description and illustration of a specific animal, or event in nature that teaches a lesson. This is a unique book with beautiful illustrations.
