Family man Dave is behind the wheel of his Pinto station wagon when he spots the yellow Corvair -- the same sporty model he traded in years before for the more family-friendly wagon. In the following days, Dave finds himself looking obsessively for the Corvair as he tools around his Asbury Park, New Jersey neighborhood. Encountering the car in a parking lot, he's shocked to notice the familiar dings on the driver door -- this really IS his old Corvair. But why does it still sport the same license plate number? It doesn't make sense. Dave decides to make the owner an offer -- but Dave can't seem to catch up with the driver. In fact, it will be terror that drives Dave AWAY from the Corvair. Will he survive its eerie pursuit?
Lori Bonfitto's interest in all things horrific goes back to the ’70s, when she worked as a character in the Haunted Mansion on the boardwalk in Long Branch, New Jersey. Among the ghoulish characters she so gleefully portrayed were Lizzie Borden, a morgue doctor and “Rat Professor”. As an adult, Bonfitto spent most of her 20s and 30s engaged in screenwriting, with a short stint as a playwright thrown in for good measure. These days she's trying her hand at writing short fiction — mostly horror, paranormal, and all-around weird stuff. Bonfitto is a native of Oakhurst, New Jersey and a graduate of Ocean Township High School. She lived New York City for 20-something years after graduating from NYU Film School. In 2008 she returned to her Jersey Shore roots and re-planted herself in Ocean Grove, just a stone’s throw from Asbury Park. When she's not writing, Bonfitto is an enthusiastic player with the Big Apple Softball League.
