Woolly Mammoth on Amelia Street: Read Aloud Poems4kids (and Grownups Too)

I totally agree with Elaine, and would like the echo her enthusiasm. I'm also a teacher who was lucky enough to get one of the advanced copies of this book last month. My students have read them out loud, in the suggested character voices and styles, we've acted several of them out for poetry-n-motion exercises. Will be great for littler ones, all the way up to about Sixth Grade, my kids are Fourth Graders. But, we all know there's an unwritten rule that says, there is NO real age-limit for enjoying a good children's book!

Woolly Mammoth on Amelia Street: Read Aloud Poems4kids (and Grownups Too)

My students love this book, especially poems like 'Have You Seen My Poopasaurus,' 'Goat Guts & Garlic Grits,' 'Here @ The Whale Weigh Station' & 'I Cried So Much They Finally Said Yes Just To Shut Me Up.' Not just for kids, that's for sure, I was LOL-ing right along with them.

Woolly Mammoth on Amelia Street: Read Aloud Poems4kids (and Grownups Too)

From The Publisher... A fun variety of lyrical poems by Todd-Michael St. Pierre, filled with whimsical creatures, wonderfully gross scenarios and simply contagious rhythm and rhyme, all combining to honor the bizarre, the hilarious, and the downright disgusting... ('Belinda ate a booger/On our field trip to Kentucky/I can't believe she did that/It's just so very yucky/I think it's really nasty/I'd die if they all knew.../One time in the first grade/I ate a booger too!'). Each page is brought to life by Cartoon Man's complimentary (and very entertaining) drawings. A Woolly Mammoth on Amelia Street will be reached for again and again by librarians, teachers, parents, kids and anyone else who enjoys a good laugh. Appropriately dedicated to the Late-Great Shel Silverstein, these Poems4Kids (And Grown-ups Too!) are certain to cure boredom and the blues. In fact, these poems should be required reading for anyone who claims to dislike poetry. If you purchase only one collection of poetry this year, make sure it's this one!
