Exactly what you need for word study.

This book is exactly what it claims to be. It was developed for the purpose of allowing Bible readers who do not know Greek to take advantage of the many Greek and Greek-English reference tools available, especially those which used the Strong's numbering system. So if you want a quick and easy way to figure out what Greek word underlies any English New Testament word you are studying, this is your book. You just find the NRSV verse on the margin, then look for your word in the super-literal translation in the main body, and you will see the Greek word and Strong's number. From there you can look it up in a Greek lexicon, or a wordbook, or any Strong's-keyed English work. That said, you don't need any other book to do thorough word studies of your *own* using this book. There is a complete concordance at the back, in which you can see every use of every word in the New Testament, with little snippets of the NRSV translation to show you how each occurences is translated there. Then you can compare each occurence to your favorite Bible translation. By looking through the whole New Testament you can get a well-rounded idea of how a word was used by NT authors, or by looking in one particular book or one author's writing you can see how that author used the word. This book is well worth the money. It can basically take the place of several volumes of older reference works. [i.e. the Greek part of Strong's, KJV interlinear NT, Greek concordance] No frills or commentary, just the information you need to do your own word study. I began using it before I knew any Greek, and I've continued to use it in seminary Bible study courses after two semesters of Greek. It will be useful for anyone who studies the Bible.
