Overview

A story of heart-stopping, toe-curling passion by the beloved bestselling author of Hard to Love, Resisting Her, and The Impact of You.

Straight-laced and well-mannered southerner Emmy Clarke is out of her depth in New York City’s fashion world, but when she lands a job as an assistant at a modeling agency it seems like the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Working under the notoriously tyrannical Fiona Stone is a nightmare, but there’s one distinct perk: ogling the ridiculously hot male models who parade through the office—particularly rising star Ben Shaw.

Ben is everything Emmy’s not: exquisitely gorgeous, highly paid, and well-traveled. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Emmy looks after Ben on photo shoots, but she refuses to become another one of his lusting groupies. Ben finds Emmy’s refreshingly real attitude to be surprisingly attractive.

Against a backdrop of the most fashionable cities in the world, casual flirting turns into an illicit affair, but when Ben’s twisted past is revealed, and the bitter Fiona catches wind of their relationship, their careers and hearts are threatened.

    Forced

Too many scenes were drawn out. This book could have been 100 or less pages and it would have been, alright. As it stands, too repetitive and scenes seem forced. But, if this book is $0.99 - then it's worth it in time and $.

    Nothing but Sex

This book is nothing but sex scenes, there is no real relationship between the two, and the characters are boring and theres nothing to them. This book was awful. I would give it no stars if i could. Spend your money reading something that has real raw emotion, not some overdrawn boring sex, sex, sex book.

Emmy and Ben did not have the greatest start to their relationship. Emmy is out of her element after her move to New York from Tenesee. Ben is a model and she works for his boss, Fiona. Emmy tries to remain true to her values but finds herself falling for Ben. I did not understand her encounter with Ben and Bray since she said she had values and was just a "simple" girl. Overall a decent read with somewhat of a cliffhanger as we have to wait to see what happens with Fiona.

WORKING IT, the first book in the Love by Design series by Kendall Ryan features a model hero, Ben Shaw and a modeling agency assistant named Emmy Clarke. Emmy is out of her element as she lives in New York, trying her best to excel in the fast-paced city world. In this time, she comes face-to-face with one of the most highly sought-after male models from the agency.

Ben Shaw is much like what you think a male model would be. He is devastatingly good-looking and he knows it. His charm oozes from his and can come off as slightly too cocky in some situations. While the story starts out of chick lit in tone at the beginning, it soon morphs into an erotic romance that gets hotter by the minute. Though not particularly deep, Ryan does create good chemistry between the hero and heroine. I wished that Emmy came out of her skin more because her character was often overshadowed by Ben who could come on too strong in some situations. I hoped for more of a balance in personalities to show that they complemented one another more.

Ryan’s writing style is very free-flowing and easy to read. There aren’t much complications in terms of plot or conflict so if you’re looking for a fun and sexy read then this is for you. I would recommend this book to fans of Alice Clayton’s Redhead series. A lot of the same chick lit elements appear in both series, so there is a lot to love there if you are interested in that.

While WORKING IT didn’t entirely work for me, I still enjoyed the saucy moments between Ben and Emmy. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Emmy is a sweet southern girl trying to not be overwhelmed by New York City and all the beautiful people she is surrounded by at the modeling agency where she works. Supermodel Ben Stone is the most beautiful of them all and she can't help but be a little smitten with him. Ben doesn't do dating or relationships but once he sets his sights on Emmy, he is determined to have her. He tries to convince them both that a 3 month Paris fling would be perfect, but neither can deny the feeling that start to develop the more time they spend together.

I have read a few of Kendall Ryan's books before and this is definitely my favorite so far. You've got a sweet and naive heroine, a devastatingly handsome and sexy hero and of course a crazy ex who also happens to be Emmy's witch of a boss. All of this makes for a hot and angsty read. Some of the plot was a little predictable, especially in relation to Devil boss Fiona, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the book. And Ben's dirty mouth was probably what I enjoyed the most.

I had not realized this was the first in a trilogy so I was a little bummed that their story didn't wrap up at the end. While there are plenty of questions waiting to be answered in book two, there wasn't any super major cliffhanger. So at least that makes waiting a little more tolerable. I will absolutely be checking out Craving Him to see what happens next for Emmy and Ben.
