Sadly disappointing. I normally love the Boss's music, but this CD was upleasant to the ear, and way too "kitchy" for me... My least favorite of all his albums so far.

How? I mean seriously, how does he do it? He's pushing 60 for God's sake and is putting out some of the best music of his life. Working on a Dream follows closely in the footsteps of his last masterpiece, Magic. Bruce is still indulging his 60's pop appetite, but this time the arrangements are even more lush and ethereal. If Magic was his final word on the Bush administration, Working on a Dream is the sound of a man freed from fear and loathing and prepared to start building again. It's as inspiring as it is beautiful. He sings direct and open love letters to his wife on This Life and Kingdom of Days. On The Last Carnival, he eulogizes Dan Federici in the form of Wild Billy rolling up the tents and packing them onto the trains he won't be travelling on anymore. It's a heartbreaking and fitting tribute to the man who's organ playing painted the Jersey Shore so vividly into so many of Bruce's songs. Working on a Dream is a pitch perfect song for a country in the midst of hard economic times, but is also a call to straighten our backs and get to work. It carries many of the hopes that he and much of our nation see in our new president. Queen of the Supermarket at first feels like an odd tune in the Boss's catalog, but it harkens back to The Wild, The Innocent record and is a heartaching loners lament about unrequited love that comes crashing to an explosive climax. It's all capped off with the bonus track, The Wrestler, which, having seen the movie, is devastating. This is another fantastic collection that encapsulates bits and pieces from a 30+ year career and throws enough curve balls to keep you on your toes. Thanks again Boss!

Bruce has captured the hopeful energy of our times with his latest album. Like most of his releases, the music is best consumed live, but it's satisfying to just close your eyes and experience the message and the music.

I am a huge fan, this disc was very sad in my opinion. Most of the songs are the same thythm, monotonic and boring. I don't play it any more - played it once! Bruce you can do better!

Bruce Springsteen is a favorite of mine, and I was not disappointed with his new album. It's great that he has a new one out so soon after the last. I'd read a couple of reviews, one favorable and one not so, and I'm glad I ignored the not so favorble one and went out and bought the album. There is a variety of songs, a variety of moods. It's a different tone from his last couple of albums, but there's nothing wrong with that at all.

I am a huge Springsteen fan and have everything he has ever recorded. I always buy his albums and only regretted it once on The Seeger Sessions. Working on a Dream is destined to become a classic.

His lyrics transport us to the scene of a story and to feelings old and new. Every long time fan will already have this CD but newcomers and converts need to immerse themselves in it and then find a way to see and hear him perform.

I bought this for my husband, a super big fan. He likes it a lot but, I who consider myself a fan think that the music alone is really nice and very enjoyable but, the lyrics "cowboy Pete, queen of the supermarket, and one legged dog" are weird and hard to sing along with. I mean can you imagine a dog with only one leg? Really, I think Bruce let his kids write some of this stuff! I recommend this CD to all the Bruce fans out there but, not his best lyrics in my opinion.

All thirteen songs are enjoyable and original, but still retain that special "Bruce" flavor. An added bonus is a booklet with lyrics to all the songs.

Bruce Springsteen playing with the E Street Band is just about as good as it gets. Even if the only Springsteen recording you have is "Born to Run" go out and get "Working on a Dream" so that you can marvel at the continuity over a 30+ years stretch. Must have for any serious collector of American rock and roll.
