There are many singer/songwriters who try to integrate punk hipness and a post-new wave fun asthetic into their work. Few succeed as well as Jim Infantino. His signature tune "Addicted to Stress" shows us a writer with commitment to his heart, describing his collapsing modern world with wit, bluntly yet artistically. He is sort of like Loudon Wainwright, III on acid. "The Big Old Dark Green Car" is a good example of his willingness to bring pop instrumentation to his work. Folk people may once again say he is bringing in too much rock & roll, but who really cares about such an argument anymore? The acoustic songs stand up very well. Purists should be directed to "Somewhere over NYC" for the wonderful playing, strong lyrics and direct performance.
