Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Many gruesome images of casualties become less sobering when one notices that they're photographs of re-creations from London's Imperial War Museum, stills from fictional movies or posed scenarios for training purposes. Still, Simon Adams's Eyewitness: World War I, part of an extensive Eyewitness series, provides an informative, picture-and-caption history lesson. Countless actual photos of trench life, tanks, rifles, uniforms, airplanes, artificial trees (for artillery observation posts) and other battle equipment and behavior are featured along with the re-creations. The folks at DK have almost single-handedly rejuvenated if not reinvented the often moribund world of non-fiction books for children. World War 1 eyewitness

The book is about World War 1. It discusses the tension between the European countries. It described the war better in some places than it did in others. It gave a very good description of the American army. It described the tactics of American army but not the Russian army. Good description of the war in general.
I would recommend this book to any person who is interested in past wars and would like to learn about World War 1.
