Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kip Wilson
One of titles in the "Profiles" series, this book presents biographies about six individuals who shaped the events of World War II. Rosenberg captures readers' interest with some little-known facts on each of the individuals profiled (Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill, Josef Stalin, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Michinomiya Hirohito, and Dwight D. Eisenhower), then provides a full picture of each of their roles in history, depicting their place in how the war began, escalated, and ended. With each subsequent chapter, Rosenberg paints a picture of the war from all sides, showing us not only the motives of these larger-than-life individuals; but also how their actions intersected during the war years and produced ripple effects upon the future world after the war years. Along with detailed text about each individual's role in history, the book is filled with colorful maps and photos which will capture young readers' attention. The end result is a book which shows us how the actions of each of these individuals affected the lives of millions of civilians and soldiers alike on both sides of the battlefield. This interesting read provides a great springboard for young readers wanting to learn about World War II in general, or specifically about these wartime leaders. Reviewer: Kip Wilson
