    I Also Recommend:

"WORLD WAR II: SAVING THE REALITY" - A FUN WAY TO LEARN ABOUT WORLD WAR II.

The author organized his information about World War II in the form of a scrap book. The photographs, reproduced artifacts are very beautifully presented with very well written history make for a very entertaining way to study the War. The reproducted documents look true to the originals. FUN BOOK!

    Overall--excellent. A few areas missed...

Most people--who didn't live through the WWII period--look on it sort of like the Civil War. They don't have a clue what life was like in the USA during the war---Bond drives, scrap drives, victory gardens, ration stamps, what was in VERY short supply [tires, nylons, etc] what people were able to substitute. For example, many clothes were sewn up at home, often from feed sack material. My mother was VERY choosey WHICH sacks of chicken feed we bought at the lumber yard, because she had in mind the NEXT shirt or dress that she was going to have to sew up.

Another important area barely mentioned was SOE, Churchill's Special Operations Executive, the clandstine branch that ferried men, women, supplies, explosives--on a nearly every ight basis--into occupied France. These forces were a very effective tool to aid the Resistance and to blow up supply trains, fuel depots, etc.

    Great for WWII history buffs.

I bought the whole set (4 volumes) for my husband who is a WWII buff. He really likes the fact that the information is not just US view but is from the archives of the UK. I also bought him the D-Day volume which goes very well with this set.
