Using a countdown format, describes ten of the world's fastest cars.
Children's Literature - Peg GlissonBetter, stronger, fasterthe urge to test limits is always there. In this entry in "Edge Books' The World's Top 10s," readers learn brief facts about the design, engine, cost, and speed of the 10 fastest cars, all of which are European. One is even electric. Stunning color photographs show the sleek designs and sometimes the owner or designer. Fact boxes consistently highlight horsepower and top speed; first model, engine, cost, length, weight, owner, and designer are sometimes included as well. Consistency would have helped young readers compare the cars, but the numerous facts and great history will pull them in. The book's bold design, using bright colors to edge the text and strong fonts add to the intensity. A glossary, index, and suggested books and internet sites round out the book; unfortunately, two of the three suggested web sites did not work. Reviewer: Peg Glisson
