Big talent gives off thermal nuclear vibes. I can feel them…this is the voice we're going to be hearing for a long time.

Poppy Z. Brite combines the sensibilities of a poet, the unflinching eye of a surgeon… Brite's vision is disturbingly dark, deliciously erotic, sweetly savage, and uniquely her own.

Got hooked by this book to a man named ghost. If you like horror and have actually never heard of this author, you are sad. Lol. Five stars for wormwood.

This is not the first time im reading poppy z brites work but its one of the best collections ive read. The two stories about steve and ghost made buying this book worth while for me but i got something much more. All of the stories were good but The Elder has to be my favorite. I highlighted most thing in this one and couldnt hold back a sob while reading. This is worth getting for that story. The subtle horror of it hit me hard.
