Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Heidi Quist
Only one child has never teased poor Bridget Butt about her name, and this is why Amanda Reynolds is her best friend. However, when a new teacher replaces the best teacher in the whole world and her name is Miss Snotgrass, Amanda and Bridget cannot agree about whether they like her or not. Bridget finds herself battling the unkind comments of the biggest class bully alone. To make matters worse, her old dog Bobo is acting funny and everyone says he is about to die. The writing style, reading level, and subject matter are perfectly suited to the audience, and the characters are fun and simple enough to be universal. Bridget has good relationships with her family, and the story contains a sweet scene where she receives some helpful understanding from her big brother. Even in the less-friendly moments between the brother and sister, the reader can easily perceive some fault in Bridget due to her unwillingness to accept the illness of her dog, making her brother a sympathetic character and opening the eyes of the reader to positive potential in family relationships. The main character Bridget also demonstrates growth in positive ways as she learns to accept new friends, both in the teacher, in another girl her age, and even her in own brother to a certain extent. This is a charming story.

I think this book is especially for people who get made fun of because of their name.In this story the main characters name is Bridget Butt. In the book she learns to deal with people making her name. This book helped me because it taught me to ignore , the are only going to keep doing it to get attention. It actally worked people noticed that I´m not paying attention so why waste your time making fun of over and over again.
