    Good Fun with Worst Witch

Worst Witch pre-dates Harry Potter's adventures at Wizardry school, but both share the same British boarding school bases. Worst Witch is lighter fare, and easier to read, but may be a humorous interim read for Potter fans. The books are also good for younger readers than those who may be engaged by Potter. This particular version of the Worst Witch stories includes two separate books, the first of the original series. Tow books in one, along with Murphy's orginal illustrations.

Mildred can't seem to get out of her own way at times as she starts at Miss Cackle's Academy, but she has wonderful friends and an earnestness and kindness to her. Her adversaries are the typical "mean and perfect" types and the teachers are fun (and not-so-fun) characters. There is a sweetness to these books that more comtemporary children's literature doesn't always share.

I loved these books as a young girl and my 7 yo daughter and I had fun sharing them. Her friends have enjoyed receiving the book as a birthday present! Also try the Sister Magic series and Araminta Spookies series for books at a similar reading level and subject matter.

    Great Book

This book is about a witch named Mildred and she is starting witch school. There is a mean witch and she is trying to make Mildred get into all sorts of trouble behind her back without her knowing. So read the rest to find out if Mildred can survive the rest of the semester without getting suspended. I really recommend this book to you!!
