L.D. Davis is the New York Times Best Selling author of the Accidentally On Purpose series and the novella Pieces of Rhys. When she is not busy in her most important role as a mother to sarcastic children, she is writing or reading. L.D. enjoys tasty alcoholic beverages, British period pieces (like Downton Abbey!), and punishing her sarcastic children with embarrassing moments such as dancing badly in public, singing badly in public, or announcing some mortifying fact about one of the children. She lives on the east coast with her children, husband, cat, and fish.

I have read the two other books in this series and this is by far my favorite. I friggin’ love Luke, even when I don’t like him. Many times when you get a retelling of a story through the eyes of another character there is so much overlap that it can start to be redundant and boring. This book did not do that. It was awesome.
You really need to read the other two books in this series to understand this book, so go back to the beginning if you’re not there already. If you have read it, you know what happens between Emmy and Luke and what brings them back together again. This is the same story, in the same time frame, as the first book, but from Luke’s perspective. It adds a lot more depth to the story than I thought was possible, and really fills in some of the missing information from the original story, which is all through Emmy’s POV.
After the first book, I really liked Luke. I can’t say that I really understood him, but compared to Emmy’s other choices, he was the best one. He seemed to genuinely care. This book took what I already knew to be true about him and expounded on it. I understood why he was the way he was after Lucas came and why he ultimately accepted Emmy back into his life, and what she meant to him. Left me with warm fuzzies, that’s for sure.
As with the other two books before it, the writing is great. You really get entranced by the characters and their stories. Even when you dislike the characters or their choices, you are compelled to keep reading. I didn’t lose interest for a second, even though this was basically my second time through the story. It was good, and by far the best of this series. 4.5 stars!

    Excellent continuation of the series

This is the best of the series. It has the point of view of Luke without just rehashing scenes from the first book.
