Overview

She lost a part of her soul when he died.
He lost his right hand man, his ultimate partner in crime.
But it's that tragedy that might just push them together.

If Kyle Daniels regrets anything, it's not being home the night his best friend died or going home for his funeral. Leaving Berkeley and heading back to Verity Point, Oregon, for the summer feels like returning to a hollow cave without Cameron there. The only thing that makes it bearable is the knowledge that Roxanne, Cam's younger sister, is still there.

Roxy Hughes isn't the same girl he left behind six months ago. Destroyed by losing her older brother, her downward spiral has been uncontrollable. Alcohol and sex is her escape - complete oblivion being the only place she can forget the agony of that night. Because she's the only one that truly knows it.

Kyle always promised Cam that if anything happened to him he'd protect Roxy, but one kiss takes his need to protect her to a whole new level. Now, she's more than just his best friend's sister. She's everything he wants, and he's everything she doesn't know she needs. But if he doesn't figure out a way to pull her from the deep, dark hole she's dug herself, she might just end up the same way as her brother.

Meet the Author

By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to a terrible two year old and growing bump, due September 2013. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of juice and writes books.
She likes to write about magic, kisses and whatever else she can fit into the story. Sarcastic, witty characters are a must. As are hot guys. Emma is currently working too many books to even count - including Playing for Keeps, the companion book to the New York Times and USA Today bestseller, The Love Game. She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

The premise was good but the writing did not reach the mark. It was repetitive and boring, disjointed at times, and full of teenage drama. The characters were as young as in other books, yet in this one they were developed poorly and the plot was non-existant. This is the first book ever that literally put me to sleep several times. Had to put it down three times, and read something else instead to recharge. That bad. Had to skim paragraphs at a time to get to the end. I was just glad it was over.

Roxy has known Kyle her whole life; but when she loses her brother, Cameron, she starts drinking and sleeping around. Kyle lost his best friend and when he comes back for the summer, he is determined to bring Roxy to her senses. It seems that she won't listen to anyone else but she does listen to him. Worth the Risk is, in my opinion, the best book so far in the series. I loved Roxy's character and all the crap that she gave Kyle. It was funny to read about their interactions. I couldn't wait to finish this story and now I want to know whose book is next - could it be Si and Izzy's story?
